bet365 officially launched its online sportsbook in Washington, DC, marking the latest expansion of the UK-based gaming operator’s North American footprint. The launch arrives with a multi-year partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE), owners of the Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics, and more.

Residents of the DC sports betting market will now have access to another one of the best sports betting apps. bet365 offers pregame and live in-play betting across dozens of sports and hundreds of markets. Residents will be able to download the app via the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store, must be at least 18 years old to register and place wagers, and must pass geolocation checks to verify physical presence in the District.

To establish visibility in the market, the deal with MSE will see bet365 feature prominently throughout its clubs. Per Deadspin, the sportsbook has become the official sports betting partner of the NHL's Capitals, the NBA's Wizards, and the WNBA's Mystics. Fans will see virtual signage during the Capitals games, and there will be pre-game and in-game commercials during the broadcasts of all three teams.

To attract bettors who may already be taking advantage of different DC sportsbook promos, bet365 is offering numerous promotions. New users can claim a "Bet $10, Get $350 in Bonus Bets" offer upon account creation, a $10 deposit, and a settled qualifying wager. All bettors can take advantage of bet365's "Early Payout Offer," which settles bets before the final whistle regardless of the final outcome. Straight bets are settled in the NBA if a team leads by 20 points, in the WNBA by 18 points, in the NHL by 3 goals, and in soccer by 2 goals.

District-wide sports betting was sourced to GambetDC, which was powered by contractor Intralot via the Office of Lottery Gaming, from 2020 to 2024. That period was plagued by complaints of uncompetitive pricing and technical glitches, all while continuing to post poor revenue in comparison to the Maryland sports betting and Virginia sports betting markets.

In 2024, FanDuel replaced GambetDC in the District. That monopoly was short-lived before the market opened to competitors, and shortly thereafter, DraftKingsCaesarsBetMGMFanatics, and theScore Bet launched.

bet365 launches in Alberta

Earlier in the summer, bet365 launched in the Alberta sports betting market, adding a second Canadian province to it's portfolio.

“Canada is a key market for bet365, and cementing our brand’s presence in Alberta marks another milestone in our long-term commitment to Canadian sports fans,” said Trip Stoddard, Head of Development at bet365. “We're proud to work alongside Alberta's regulators to give fans a trusted platform to engage with the sports they love through a responsible, world-class experience.”

At the time, bet365 also announced a sponsorship deal with the Canadian Football League, naming itself an official sports betting and casino partner in both the Alberta and Ontario sports betting markets. The partnership will run through the 2026 CFL season, which wraps with the 113th Grey Cup in Calgary on Nov. 15.
