He not only changed music but the way you look at artists. One of the first androgynous musicians that demanded your respect, he was that good! I rank him up there with Elvis, he was never afraid to be different. R.I.P.

Wow. According a few interviews with Scott Weiland (former Stone Temple Pilots vocalist) he claimed he idolized his work. Really looked up to Bowie. Something in the air fellas.

    Legend.

Have fond memories of my Mom blasting Bowie in the car and in the house.

Let's Dance is a badass song.

Bowie just uploaded his album to YouTube 3-4 days ago. I think he knew he was going and this album was his final gift. Seems pretty clear listening to it. What a legendary thing to do. Wow.

It's pretty clear Weiland idolized Bowie - which is cool - except that's about where the connection ends. Bowie totally and completely had his shite together. Weiland did not. I hate to say this, but Bowie could sniff out a loser from a long way off and likely wouldn't have wasted his time on any kind of work with SW.

I strongly suggest the documentary "David Bowie - Five Years 1969-1973" - gives a remarkable glimpse into DB's life and explained, to me, the whole Bowie thing. I never really understood it until I saw that movie last year. Watched it three times actually, and I almost never watch a movie twice.
