NHL Player Props Today: Best Bets & Goal Scorer Picks for Monday

My NHL player props for today feature players from four of the five games on the slate. 

Three of the four featured players, Carter Verhaeghe, Steven Stamkos, and Jason Robertson, are scorching hot, while the other - Mark Scheifele - faces a team he's had success against recently. The picks below are part of the NHL best bets series, offered daily.

⬆️ Carter Verhaeghe player prop: Over 0.5 points (-125) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Verhaeghe is on a roll, which I took advantage of last week. I'm going back to the same prop, expecting the Panthers' center to notch at least a point against the Tampa Bay Lightning.  It's one of my best Panthers vs. Lightning player props today, too.

The 30-year-old has at least one point in eight of the previous nine games, a run that includes 14 points. He has a point in two of the last three meetings with the Lightning.

With the Panthers scoring 19 goals in the previous four wins, I'm expecting them to score enough for Verhaeghe to get amongst it. His odds to notch a point range from -125 to -130 at the best sports betting sites, with FanDuel offering the former. Those odds will provide a $7.69 profit on a winning $10 bet.

⬆️ Steven Stamkos player prop: Over 2.5 shots (+148) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Like most of his teammates, Stamkos has struggled this season. However, he has played exquisitely in the previous three games, and I'm riding his hot streak while I still can.

After hitting the Over on this total just once in five previous games, Stamkos fired seven, nine, and five shots in the last three, respectively. That's an average of seven per game in that mini sample size.

And the 35-year-old is about to face a St. Louis Blues team that he roasted four goals and nine shots on Dec. 11. I'm as excited about the +148 odds at FanDuel, which carry a 40.32% probability, and a winning $10 bet will profit $14.80.

🔥 Mark Scheifele (+175) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is more of a situational pick, given how successful Scheifele has been against the Ottawa Senators recently.

The Jets' assistant captain has a goal in four straight versus the Sens, amassing five in that stretch. Both Senators' netminders have struggled to keep the puck out of their own net, with Linus Ullmark sporting the league's worst goals against above expected. 

I'm banking on those factors contributing to Scheifele's 17th of the season. Of the best sports betting apps, FanDuel has the best price (+175). You'll earn a $16.80 profit on a winning $10 bet.

If you're looking for the hot hand, though, go with Gabriel Vilardi, who has at least one goal in four of the previous five games. 

🔥 Jason Robertson (+155) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Robertson's anytime goal-scoring prop has been one of my most profitable bets in the last month. While the Stars' prolific winger has slowed slightly of late, he is still scoring goals at an outrageously high clip.

He has 17 goals in the last 17 games. That's three more than anyone else since Nov. 11. Robertson has four goals in the previous six games and netted in each of the last two meetings with the Los Angeles Kings. 

If he scores, the +155 odds will yield a $15.50 profit on a $10 bet.
