🏒 NHL Player Props Today: Best Bets & Prop Picks for Thursday, March 5

Of the seven-game slate, my NHL player props today feature three current and one former Eastern Conference star.  

Tim Stutzle and Rasmus Dahlin look to extend their assist streaks, while David Pastrnak and Artemi Panarin hope to end their respective barren runs. Three of the four players have favorable matchups they have thrived against.

Tim Stutzle Over 0.5 assists (-118) at Flames 

Stutzle has eight assists in the previous nine games, notching at least one seven times. He's on a three-game assist streak and had two beauties against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday. 

With how well he douses and extinguishes Flames, you might mistake Stutzle for a firefighter.

The German has eight helpers in the previous seven meetings against the Calgary Flames and enters with an assist in three straight versus tonight's opponent. I'd play this bet to 120.

Rasmus Dahlin Over 0.5 assists (-130) at Penguins

Dahlin has accumulated 12 assists in the previous 10 games, notching at least one eight times. The Sabres' blueliner has four assists in the last two games, instilling additional confidence in his chances of cashing this pick. 

The only concern I have is Arturs Silovs' recent form between the pipes for the Pittsburgh Penguins. If Silovs starts, which I presume he will, the Sabres will have their work cut out, as he allowed more than two goals once in the last six games. 

That potential wrench isn't enough to deter, though, as the Sabres have won four in a row, scoring 12 in the last three games. 

Artemi Panarin Over 3.5 shots (+125) vs. Islanders

We're still waiting for Panarin's first goal as a member of the Kings. He hasn't scored in seven games, which is why I'm not pulling the trigger on his goal-scorer prop.

I still like the play, though. What I like more is his shots prop, where I expect him to fire at least four on goal for the first time since joining the Kings.

Panarin knows the Islanders like the back of his hand, and he is usually productive against them, hitting the Over in six of the previous seven head-to-heads.  

David Pastrnak Over 1.5 points (+110) at Predators

Pastrnak hasn't scored two points in six games, tied for his longest multi-point drought of the season. It's bound to happen soon, and with Pasta's heightened success against the Predators, tonight's contest in Nashville feels like the moment. 

Pastrnak scored two points against the Predators in four of the previous five meetings, and he has 20 multi-point outings this season. The Predators have been better recently, but still carry the unenviable tag of having the fifth-worst home defense.

Boston, meanwhile, netted at least four goals in four of the last six contests.

The first two picks are straightforward, as both players are notching assists faster than toddlers collect germs. 

The other two, however, are based on Panarin and Pastrnak being overdue. The trick here is picking the right occasion for them to snap their respective droughts. That's where I lean on the favourable matchups, with both players usually thriving against tonight's opponents.
