It doesn't get any better than a matchup between Atlantic Division foes battling for playoff positioning with identical records. While I expect a closer game than Gillette's shaves, I'm backing Detroit in my Bruins vs. Red Wings prediction.

The Red Wings are the -125 moneyline betting favorite, and I'm inclined to agree with the line. Can they live up to the billing in front of their starved-for-success fans? I'm banking on it. I've also featured an Over/Under play and an Alex DeBrincat player prop.

💰 Bruins vs. Red Wings prediction & best bet

Red Wings ML (-125)

I get the sense that the Red Wings have come out of their slide, at least on home ice, and are ready for one last surge to end the regular season and finally end their nine-year playoff drought.

Their 5-2 win over the Calgary Flames isn't much to go on. However, they were superb in the 3-1 triumph over the Montreal Canadiens, winning the expected goals battle 4.26 to 3.16.

I expect that version of the Red Wings to take down a Boston Bruins team that has lost eight of the previous nine road games.

Score prediction: Red Wings 3, Bruins 2 (OT)

🔥 Best Bruins vs. Red Wings player prop bet

Alex DeBrincat Over 0.5 assists (+110)

I'm putting all my player prop eggs for this game in the DeBrincat basket, as I also backed him to notch at least one assist in my NHL player props today

That's because he's playing with an AI-like drive, relentless, tireless, and a continual thorn in the side of anyone in opposition. He has five assists in the previous two games at Little Caesars Arena, securing at least one point in eight of the last nine.

His three helpers against the Flames were all primary in nature, just like his recent offensive instincts. And based on his recent form, I'd price the wager at -110.

💡 What about Boston Bruins player props?

If you're looking to get behind some Bruins for the pivotal matchup, look no further than Pavel Zacha and David Pastrnak.

  • Pastrnak Over 0.5 assists (-135): Pastrnak has a helper in five of the previous six, and he rarely fails to notch one against the Red Wings
  • Zacha anytime goal (+330): Zacha is steaming hot, and he's definitely worth a flier. He enters on a three-game goal-scoring streak and has the most goals in the NHL (8) since March 7.

💡 How I'm betting Bruins vs. Red Wings

Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.

If anything costs the Bruins a playoff spot, it will be their notably inferior form on the road. And that inability to get across the line in enemy rinks sets the tone for this set of bets.

While I don't often get dragged into historical trends, their recent head-to-head record is compelling. Five of their previous six meetings had five goals or fewer, and five of the last eight Bruins games pushed or hit the Under.

The De'Brincat prop speaks for itself. He's on a heater, and I'm confident it will continue. Each unit bet is $10.
