The 6-8 Washington Football Team and 10-4 Dallas Cowboys face off in prime time with the NFC East in the balance. We're breaking down the betting matchup with our Washington-Cowboys picks.

The NFC East has been utterly uninteresting for the majority of the season. Only the Cowboys have won consistently and they've also rewarded bettors with an 11-3 against the spread record. We're looking to them to cash in on another spread against Washington.

The Football Team had promise entering the year but injuries and inconsistency plague them weekly. At 6-8 and 5-8-1 ATS, bettors must be wary of their allure.

Here are my picks and predictions for the NFL Week 16 matchup between the Football Team and Cowboys (odds via DraftKings; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5 star scale).

Washington vs. Cowboys Odds Analysis

The Cowboys opened as 9.5-point favorites and that number has stayed consistently around 10.5 after the slight increase. This is a big number considering these teams were in a seven-point affair just two weeks ago. Injuries and COVID-related absences on Washington's side have clearly affected expectations.

The total has also barely moved, starting at 48 and only dipping to 47 at most sites. Again, the bearishness on Washington has affected this line more than anything Dallas has accomplished recently. We'll delve into this more below.

Washington vs. Cowboys Predictions

Cowboys -10.5 (-110)

The last matchup between these teams just two weeks ago ended in a seven-point Dallas win. But the Football Team has been struck by COVID since then and was embarrassed by Philadelphia despite pushing the spread last week. Dallas should easily pick apart Washington barring an unexpected return from guys like corner William Jackson, wideout Curtis Samuel, and a host of depth players.

Dallas can clinch the NFC East with a win and further press the Arizona Cardinals and Green Bay Packers for the conference title. They're as motivated as any team to deliver a message in prime time. I expect a comfortable home win.

Under 47.5 (-110)

Washington has gone Under in all but two of their last nine games thanks to an anemic offense that can barely sustain drives. Last week's Over was even a fluke on a low 39.5-point line, as the Football Team produced just 237 total offensive yards. Replicating that this week will do nothing against Dallas.

The Cowboys will win with ease like last week's game against the lowly New York Giants. A 24-10 game easily clears the total and the spread.
