Vikings vs. Eagles Picks, Predictions NFL Week 2: Minny Proving to be NFC North Contender

The Monday Night Football matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles is one of four games on the Week 2 slate between teams with 1-0 records. We’re breaking down the betting matchup with our Vikings-Eagles picks.
Neither the Vikings nor the Eagles were favorites early in the preseason to win their respective divisions, but both made big statements in Week 1 that they are forces to be reckoned with this year. Both earned wins over NFC North foes, and now Minnesota plays its first road game while this is Philadelphia’s home opener.
Philadelphia improved to 6-1 in its last seven season openers and has won both in head coach Nick Sirianni’s tenure. But the more important question is can the team start 2-0?
Here are our Vikings-Eagles NFL picks for Week 2 (odds via PointsBet, FanDuel Sportsbook, Caesars Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Vikings vs. Eagles Odds Analysis
There has been little movement in the point spread this week, though some sportsbooks came down from the key number of -3 to -2.5, while others have been at -2 or -2.5 all week. There has been good two-way action on the handle, with the cash split 58/42 in favor of the Vikings. However, the largest wagers have landed on Philadelphia, who has attracted just 28% of the tickets.
The total has received similar two-way action on the handle, with the Over attracting 80% of the tickets but 57% of the cash.

Vikings vs. Eagles ATS Pick
Vikings +2.5 (-110) ★★
Much of the attention in this week’s quarterback matchup surrounds the Eagles' Jalen Hurts and his immense upside, but not enough people are talking about the Vikings' Kirk Cousins and his 35 touchdown passes to just seven interceptions since the start of last season.
We should not be shocked by, and thus should not overreact to, Philadelphia’s dominant 38-point offensive performance against Detroit since its game against the Lions followed a similar script last year. For the second straight season, the Eagles ran for over 200 yards and four rushing touchdowns against the Lions, and the running game was a big reason they scored on each of their first five possessions (four touchdowns, one field goal). However, the Vikings have a much better defense overall and will not be run all over like the Lions were.
Monday Night Football has not been kind to the Vikings, as they are 0-7 ATS as underdogs in such games since 2010. However, this is the year that streak ends, and we are making the bet at FanDuel, as they are the only sportsbook offering +2.5.

Vikings vs. Eagles O/U Pick
Under 50.5 (-107) ★★★★
The seven points Minnesota allowed to Green Bay in Week 1 were the fewest points the team has allowed in a game since 2019. It was also its largest division win in three seasons, as the Kevin O’Connell head coaching era started with a bang.
A ferocious pass rush fueled the victory against the Packers, as the Vikings sacked Aaron Rodgers four times. And when he was under pressure, Rodgers was just 1-6 for 12 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. In all, the Vikings pressured him 10 times, but nine without blitzing. Rodgers’ 2.7 air yards per completion was the sixth-lowest of his career, and we expect Minnesota to similarly fluster Hurts.

Vikings vs. Eagles Prop Pick
Jefferson Over 97.5 receiving yards (-115) ★★★★
Justin Jefferson had nine catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns against the Packers. He has 91 yards from the slot and 93 yards out wide, and it was his fifth career game with at least 150 receiving yards.
Jefferson averaged 4.3 yards of separation when targeted against Green Bay, his highest of his career with a minimum of five targets. And when he had at least four yards of separation, he produced six catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns.
Jefferson is a matchup nightmare that will exploit the Eagles secondary in primetime.
