A strong performance is expected from the Dallas Cowboys against the Houston Texans on Sunday. Read on for our Texans-Cowboys pick and prediction.

The Cowboys (9-3) have been on a scoring frenzy in recent weeks. This week’s matchup against the league’s worst teams should allow that trend to continue. The Texans (1-10-1) are waffling back and forth between underwhelming quarterback options, simply biding their time until they’re on the clock for the 2023 NFL Draft.

How does this lopsided combination unfold on the field on Sunday?

Here is our best Texans vs. Cowboys NFL pick (odds via PointsBet; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Texans vs. Cowboys Odds

Texans vs. Cowboys Odds Analysis

The Cowboys opened as 16.5-point home favorites before seeing significant action on their side to push the line. The number now floats between Cowboys -17 and -17.5 across the board.

Davis Mills and the Texans offense are not expected to be able to get much offense going against a stout Cowboys defense. The total opened at 47.5 and dropped three points to 44.5 throughout the week. My expectation is that this line will continue to move and we may see it close at 43.5 on Sunday.

Texans vs. Cowboys Pick

Cowboys -17 ★★★★

When one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL is attached to one of the league’s top playmaking defenses, and that team gets to face an opponent that has just one win in 12 games, the result should be lopsided. Though this game features one of the largest spreads in the NFL this season, Dallas has been a master of the blowout win in recent weeks.

The Cowboys have covered a 17-point margin of victory in four of their last six games, including multiple wins by 30-plus points in that span, making them perfect candidates to blow this spread out of the water against the worst team in the NFL.

Texans QB Davis Mills has sat the bench for Kyle Allen the last couple of weeks, but is expected to make the start on Sunday in Dallas. That’s a gift for a Dallas defense that just picked off Matt Ryan three times last week, as Mills has thrown 11 interceptions across his last eight starts. The Cowboys rank second in the NFL in turnover differential at +9; only two NFL teams are worse in turnover differential than the Houston Texans (-6).

Dallas ranks third in the NFL in home cover rate, going 5-2 ATS at home this season. Only four teams have posted a worse ATS record than the Texans, who are 4-7-1 against the spread. The Cowboys average a full 12.1 points per game more than the Texans and should outpace Houston by plenty more than that on Sunday.

-17.5 (-110)-17.5 (-110)-17 (-115)-17.5 (-110)-17 (-107)

PointsBet comes in with a clear advantage over the field when betting on the Cowboys this week. The -17 offering at PointsBet beats out the trio of FanDuel, BetMGM and Caesars by the hook while maintaining a healthy odds advantage over the -17 offering at DraftKings.

Though DraftKings posts the same line as PointsBet, the difference in odds from -115 to -107 means it will cost you eight additional dollars to profit $100 on a wager at DraftKings versus the preferred odds at PointsBet.

For those who prefer the other side of this pick, Texans backers should seek out the +17.5 at FanDuelBetMGM or Caesars.
