💰 Packers vs. Broncos betting impact
This is a true test for both teams, and it's looking like the weather will be a background character at best. The Broncos are tied for the league's best record at 11-2, and they'll be looking to extend a 10-game winning streak while hosting the 9-3-1 Packers, who have won four straight themselves.
The elements can always loom in Denver, and the elevation alone can be tough to navigate. There aren't many concerns today though amid a tame forecast, but here's a few aspects to keep in mind nonetheless when betting on Packers vs. Broncos:
- Calm winds favor passing. The Packers face a tough challenge against the league's fourth-ranked scoring defense, as do the Broncos when facing Green Bay's also stout and sixth-ranked unit. But the wind won't be an extra defender for the most part, with gusts reaching only 8 mph. That's especially key for Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who's thrown 22 touchdown passes alongside only four interceptions this season, including seven passing scores across his last two games. His arm will surely be leaned on in a hostile road environment.
- Mild conditions help ball security. Neither side needs much help in this department, and especially the Packers while sitting second leaguewide after committing just eight turnovers. But mild temperatures and nearly no chance of precipitation lead to a lack of slipperiness, which helps the accuracy of throws and the grip for ball-carriers. Quality field position will likely need to be earned through other means, which has contributed to this game receiving one of the lower totals in the NFL Week 15 odds.
- Quality kicking conditions. Denver is already a launchpad due to the elevation, but a lack of wind and/or precipitation makes that aspect of the game even more inviting, especially in an era when kickers keep pushing the boundaries for what's within reasonable range. Facing no wind to battle could help to convert a few stalled drives into some points, and bring the Over into play.
