It’s already time to be monitoring the injury report when you’re making NFL moneyline picks.

For example, my NFL predictions for Week 2 include taking a discounted price on the San Francisco 49ers, who could be without several key players when they visit the New Orleans Saints on Sunday (1 p.m. ET, FOX). I’m also looking to exploit the Houston Texans missing a major part of their offensive line when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday (7 p.m. ET, ABC and ESPN).

Let's dive into my NFL picks and analysis.

NFL moneyline picks for Week 2

The injury bug is already biting the 49ers, who will be without tight end George Kittle for four weeks. The status of Brock Purdy was uncertain as well on Wednesday after San Francisco’s quarterback hurt his toe and shoulder in Week 1.

The bright side to those injuries — for us bettors, at least — is the chance to back San Francisco at a shorter price, as the 49ers were -350 on the early lookahead lines at the best sports betting sites. With or without Purdy, the 49ers still boast an elite defense that can suffocate a limited Saints attack. It can also lean heavily on Christian McCaffrey to keep the chains moving after giving the superstar back 31 touches last week against Seattle.

This line could shorten even more if Purdy is officially ruled out and Mac Jones gets the start, but I’m still happy to grab this -218 price at DraftKings now.

🐴 Colts (+114) vs. Broncos ⭐⭐⭐

NFL moneyline picks for Week 2

Indianapolis whipped Miami 33-8 last week during Daniel Jones’ first start as a Colt, scoring on all seven of its possessions. Indy even left some meat on the bone while going 3-for-6 in the red zone and settling for three short field goals.

The competition will certainly be tougher for Indianapolis against Denver’s top-tier defense, but the Colts showed last year they can move the ball versus the Broncos. Indy outgained Denver 310-193 in yards when the teams met last December, but five turnovers undid those efforts. That included Jonathan Taylor dropping the ball inches before going in for a TD that would have given Indy a 20-7 lead.

Bo Nix and the Broncos were far from impressive throughout last week’s 20-12 victory over the Titans while turning the ball over four times, including twice on interceptions that Nix forced into coverage. Tennessee wasn’t able to make Denver pay for those mistakes, but the Colts certainly can.

A $10 bet on these +114 odds from DraftKings would lead to an $11.40 profit, with an implied probability of 46.73%.

⛵️ Buccaneers (+126) vs. Texans ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Texans struggled to protect C.J. Stroud in Week 1 against the Rams with four new faces on their offensive line, allowing their quarterback to take three sacks and get knocked down seven times. Their pass protection should be even worse this week with starting center Jake Andrews out due to a high ankle sprain.

That spells trouble against a Buccaneers defense known for its blitz packages, especially if Houston can’t move the ball on the ground to slow Tampa Bay’s pass-rushers down. The Bucs limited Atlanta to 69 rushing yards last week, and the Texans remain without top running back Joe Mixon due to injury.

FanDuel’s +126 odds are the best available price on the Buccaneers' moneyline on Wednesday, but bet365 (+125) and Caesars (+122) are also solid options.

❓ NFL moneyline picks FAQs

What are the best NFL moneyline picks this week?

My best NFL moneyline picks for Week 2 are the 49ers as -218 favorites and the Colts and Buccaneers at underdog prices.

What does the moneyline mean in NFL?

The "moneyline" in the NFL is for betting on a team to win outright, and the return on your bet is determined by the moneyline odds - which are calculated based on the return for a $100 bet. For example, if a team has moneyline odds of +120, then a $100 bet would return a $120 profit. Conversely, if a team has moneyline odds of -120, then a $120 bet would return a $100 profit.

You can determine the payouts and implied probabilities for any wager - or convert odds to different formats - with our odds converter.
