NFL live betting strategy Week 5

Live betting is all about getting a feel for the game as you watch. Trust your gut and the on-field play, and make the call before the value seeps away. Alternative totals are an excellent way to optimize profits. If you see something develop, trust yourself and commit.

Don't overcommit, though. Sometimes, patience is the name of the game.

Check back each week for our live betting strategy, which will be jam-packed with real-life live betting examples from previous weeks, helping to inform subsequent live betting opportunities.

Broncos vs. Eagles live betting strategy

💡 Keep an eye on Dallas Goedert's injury status

Keep an eye on whether Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert can play. He represents Jalen Hurts' favorite red-zone target, with the bulky tight end on the receiving end of three of Hurts' five TD passes.

If he doesn't play, look to elicit extra value from the Under on Hurts' TD passes. The prospective live-betting play is also strengthened by the fact that Denver has allowed just two TD passes against, tied for the third fewest.

If that bet is no longer viable, shift to sourcing added value in backing the underdog Broncos to cover, especially if Goedert cannot play.

Commanders vs. Chargers live betting strategy

💡 Target Justin Herbert's passing props

Justin Herbert struggled against the New York Giants due to breakdowns in the offensive line. While those issues persist, the Washington Commanders are less threatening with their pass rush. They blitz almost 28% of the time, but have only a 3.5% hurry rate and 18.4% pressure rate. In addition, the Commanders have the eighth-worst defensive pass DVOA.

It's a perfect spot for a Herbert bounce-back performance, so look for getting extra value from his in-game passing props, most notably the Over on his passing yards total.

Patriots vs. Bills live betting strategy: SNF

💡 Bills struggle covering large spreads at home

Since the start of last season, the Buffalo Bills are 2-5 ATS at home where they are favored by six points or more. They are the 8.5-point betting favorite for Sunday Night Football. I backed the New England Patriots to cover in my NFL picks against the spread, and I believe there's more value to be had following that avenue.

Monitor proceedings closely, and if you get the vibe that the Bills aren't running away with things early, there's a good chance they won't all game. Be cautious not to get overconfident by backing a tiny spread if New England starts well, as the advantage could be short-lived.

Chiefs vs. Jaguars live betting strategy: MNF

💡 Watch for added Under value

I'm on board the Under train for this one. Remember the total of 46.5 and look for added value throughout the game. If a team scores on the first drive, that would be a prime opportunity to lock it in. The Jacksonville Jaguars have the third-best defensive DVOA, and Steve Spagnuolo's Kansas City Chiefs defense usually excels against Jacksonville. Both teams are among the league's best pass defenses via DVOA (Jacksonville 5th, Kansas City 8th), so try to find value on the Under on either QB's passing yards totals.
