While every bone in my body tells me the Lions are the superior team, it’s not hard to see why the Chiefs are favored if you glance beyond the teams’ respective records.

Detroit is 4-1 ATS, but hasn’t actually performed capably against a team that we know is good - the Ravens just don’t qualify at this point, and the Lions' other wins have come against the Browns, Bengals, and Bears. And the Lions' loss to the Packers was pretty one-sided.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs arguably outplayed the Jaguars last week on the road and their offense is cooking since the return of Xavier Worthy. Though the Chiefs are just 1-1 ATS at home, their average ATS margin at Arrowhead is +8.8 (6th in NFL).

More about that Chiefs offense - Kansas City has put up 65 points over its past two games (32.5 PPG) following Worthy’s return, which opened up the offense in obvious ways. The Lions boast the league’s most potent offense, averaging 34.8 PPG.

Though much of it came in garbage time, Detroit still allowed 24 points to Jake Browning’s Bengals last Sunday. These offenses should both have the efficiency to get into the upper-20s and climb over this total.

Detroit has seen three of its last four games clear this total, while Kansas City has had its past two contests do so.
