2022 Jacksonville Jaguars Futures Odds, Picks and Preview: Divisional Forecast, Win Total and Playoff Predictions

Top NFL futures for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Odds, picks, and team preview ahead of the 2022 season. SBR - trusted for more than 20 years.

The Jacksonville Jaguars begin anew in 2022, free from the stench of the ill-fated Urban Meyer Experience. We break down there outlook for 2022 with our Jaguars odds, picks, and preview.

Trevor Lawrence's rookie season under Meyer was an abject disaster, but the player who once held great promise should get a fresh start under the tutelage of Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson. If the Jaguars can turn things around as a franchise, Lawrence will likely be a leading reason.

Below, we preview the 2022 NFL season for the Jaguars with a look at their futures odds and make our top picks (odds via DraftKings SportsbookFanDuel Sportsbook).

Jaguars to win the division (+750)

Jacksonville should improve relative to its dumpster-fire status from last season. But a leap into the driver's seat of the division seems nearly impossible. Even with juicy odds, this futures prop doesn't qualify as a wager I would recommend.

Although the Titans may take a step back after trading away star wideout A.J. Brown, I still view Tennessee as a significantly more well-rounded team than Jacksonville heading into this season. With Matt Ryan replacing Carson Wentz, the Indianapolis Colts should be better, as well.

The Houston Texans and Jaguars should vie for third place in the division. Neither are considered sensible landing spots for your betting dollar in the AFC South race.

Jaguars Under 6.5 wins (-130)

Looking at this number posted at DraftKings, it occurs to me just how small the number of games will be in which the Jaguars are likely to be favored in 2022. On their schedule, I count six games that could be classified as toss-ups, at best: at the New York Jets, Detroit Lions, and Washington Commanders, hosting the New York Giants, and a home-and-home series with the Texans.

In reality, it's unreasonable to expect Jacksonville to win all six of these games. But even if they do it, the other 11 opponents on their schedule are quality teams. Among them, only the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens finished with a losing record a year ago. Denver, of course, has since added Russell Wilson. Baltimore finished 8-9 in one of the league's tougher divisions.

A median expectation would include three wins of the six toss-up games and a lot of difficult losses in the other matchups. Without running the table in the projected close contests, I don't see Jacksonville reaching seven wins. I like this Under as a five-star play.

Jaguars to miss the playoffs (-650)

I've articulated a case for fading the Jaguars achieving even a .500 campaign in the upcoming season, so it's clear I don't see a playoff berth in their immediate future. That being said, it's not necessarily a wise investment to pour money into a bet on them to flail in this category, given the whopping 6.5 to 1 odds on Jacksonville falling short of the postseason yet again.

If you're looking to fade the Jaguars in 2022, the Under on their win total at DraftKings at -130 is a better wager. That said, if you've got the money to spend on the Jaguars missing the playoffs, a 13% return on your investment likely beats the stock market these days.

Etienne to win Comeback Player of the Year (+4000)

Travis Etienne was an explosive playmaker coming out of Clemson, but lost his rookie year due to a preseason injury. Healthy now in Jacksonville camp, the running back appears to have picked up where he left off with his collegiate QB.

Though James Robinson is reportedly ahead of schedule in his return from an Achilles tendon tear, Etienne will be a versatile weapon in the Jaguars offense even if Robinson soaks up snaps at RB. Etienne is a dual-threat with the capacity to take the league by storm as a post-hype sleeper.
