🆚 Who will win Falcons vs. 49ers?

Aside from the statistical reasons why I like the Falcons to win (which I explain below), an Atlanta upset would follow the trend that underdogs are 7-1 SU in the last eight prime-time games dating back to the Week 5 Thursday night game.

Falcons vs. 49ers score prediction: Falcons 27-49ers 24

🪶 Falcons ML (+115) ⭐⭐⭐

It is a concerning trend for the 49ers defense that they have now gone 13 consecutive games without an interception, which is the longest streak without an interception for any team since at least 1950. The concerns are even more prevalent after the team lost linebacker Fred Warner to a season-ending injury last week, as San Francisco already had allowed the most yards to players aligned in the slot prior to his injury.

Falcons lead the league in several categories

Though Atlanta sits at just 3-2, the fact that it leads the league in several statistical categories bodes well for its chances of success going forward.

The Falcons lead the NFL in rushing yards per game (151.2) as well as total and passing defense.

Running back Bijan Robinson is one of five players with 800 scrimmage yards through five games of a season over the last 50 seasons, and his 96.8 rushing yards per game ranks second among all players.

If this game is tight in the fourth quarter, there are few quarterbacks I would trust more than Michael Penix Jr., despite his inexperience. Penix Jr. has the best fourth-quarter QBR this season (95.8), while the next-closest is Jordan Love with an 89.8 rating. The Falcons signal caller has amassed 250-plus passing yards in back-to-back games, and can move the offense with his arm if San Francisco has success defending the run.

Since 2023, San Francisco’s 7-14 ATS home record is the second-worst in the league. And for those that don’t believe Atlanta can pull a second straight upset, teams off an outright win as underdogs in primetime that play a night game the following week are 27-20 SU over the last 20 years.

If 49ers tight end George Kittle is ultimately ruled active, and this spread gets to the key number of +3, I would then back Atlanta’s point spread. But as long as the line remains under three, I am opting for better value and doubling down on my Early Falcons vs. 49ers prediction with an Atlanta outright win.

If the Falcons pull the upset, my winning $10 wager would net $11.50 in profits through bet365’s +115 odds at a 46.51% implied probability.
