Obviously, oddsmakers are privy to player stats — although you wouldn’t know it, given the number on this particular Sunday Night Football player prop. 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has fallen short of 60 rushing yards — and fallen short of his rushing projection — in five consecutive games. In fact, his stats have been quite consistent during this stretch, with a low of 49 yards and a high of 57 yards.

So why is McCaffrey’s projection north of 60 this week? Beats me. After all, only two running backs have topped 60 rushing yards against Atlanta through five games: Buffalo’s James Cook (87 yards) and Carolina’s Chuba Hubbard (73 yards). Also, CMC has topped 60 yards just twice in his last 10 games.

Here’s the logic: Prior to Week 5, Bourne’s career-best performance in his first 114 NFL games was 100 yards back in 2022.

Also, prior to Week 5, the ex-Patriot had recorded more than 44 yards just once in his previous 15 games (70 yards against the Rams in Week 11 last year). Finally, the Falcons’ secondary allows a league-low 139.4 passing yards per game. That’s 18 fewer than any other team, 60 fewer than the Rams and 92 fewer than the Bucs.

Last year, Falcons wideout Drake London set a career high with nine touchdowns — three more than he had in his first two seasons combined. In other words, London is on a mini TD heater. This happened last year when the 2022 first-round pick notched single touchdowns in six of eight games early in the season, including a three-game run from Weeks 5-7. I’m banking on another three-game scoring streak for London, who will challenge a San Francisco defense that has surrendered 10 aerial TDs in six games.
