As we look ahead to Week 7, my Texans vs. Seahawks prediction dives into the opening odds with my early NFL picks for Monday Night Football, which kicks off Oct. 20 at 10 p.m. ET (ESPN) from Lumen Field in Seattle.
Seattle is a 3.5-point betting favorite across the board after opening with just a 3-point advantage. Be sure to check out the rest of our expert picks and early predictions as part of our NFL predictions for Week 7.

🟢 Seahawks -3.5 (-102) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
While I thought about recommending -3 at -125 odds, you just aren’t getting enough value at that number. Let’s hope for more than a field-goal win for Seattle by laying the -3.5 at these -102 odds via DraftKings, as a $10 bet will offer a far more enticing profit of $9.80.
The Seahawks just took care of business against a solid Jaguars team, and as their defense continues to get healthier, results like what we saw last Sunday will become far safer to expect.
The Seattle secondary went into Jacksonville and held the Jaguars to only 214 net passing yards. They did so despite missing three key starters: boundary cornerback Devon Witherspoon, safety Julian Love, and nickel cornerback Riq Woolen.
All returned to practice last week, picked up doubtful tags, and failed to suit up. Once they’re back in the mix, Seattle’s defense - which already ranks 10th in yards allowed per pass attempt (6.2) - will look that much better.
Houston has the benefit of a bye, but that won’t help much in one key area: pass protection. The Texans' offensive line ranks 29th in pass-block win rate, which, along with the lack of a ground game, has limited C.J. Stroud to just 6.21 net yards per attempt (NY/A). That’ll be a problem versus Seattle’s front, which ranks fourth in pass-rush win rate.
In comparison, Sam Darnold leads the NFL with 8.92 NY/A - a full yard more than the next-best player. The odds suggest this game is hardly more than a pick ’em on a neutral site. The Seahawks have shown far more life this year than to justify that price. Lock them in before sharps gobble up all the value.

📈 Texans vs. Seahawks opening odds
- Moneyline: Texans +125 | Seahawks -150
- Spread: Texans +3 (-115) | Seahawks -3 (-105)
- Over/Under: Over 42 (-110) | Under 42 (-110)
💡 Texans vs. Seahawks odds analysis
After opening at Seattle -3 (-105), the market has already shifted substantially toward the Seahawks, with a lonely -3 hanging around along with mostly -3.5s. I fully expect this game to close 1-2 points beyond this threshold, especially as positive injury news continues to trickle out of Seattle. You’re going to want to buy this spread ASAP.
The total, which opened at 42, now sits at 40.5 with a lonely 41 on bet365. I expect injury news to influence the total nearly as much as the spread. Seattle’s secondary getting any one of Love, Witherspoon, or Woolen back would be big – all of them would be massive. If you want to play the Under, you should do so ASAP as well.
