Week 2 NFL action wraps up with the Los Angeles Chargers travelling to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football, and my Chargers vs. Raiders prediction expects the visitors to pick up where they left off in Week 1 as part of our NFL picks.

The Raiders also opened with a win, but the Chargers are the 3 betting favorite to stay perfect ahead of the 10 p.m. ET (ESPN) kickoff from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. My NFL predictions for Week 2 dig into whether that's a fair line.

Chargers -3 (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Justin Herbert is one of the best regular-season quarterbacks, period. He was also tied with Jalen Hurts for the 10th-most clutch QB last season.

Herbert displayed why against one of last season's better pass defenses (eighth in pressure and fifth in coverage, via PFF), carving up the Kansas City Chiefs to the tune of 304 yards and three TDs.

He showed his mobility, too, and made excellent decisions with the ball, running for 32 yards on seven carries, one of which ended the Chiefs' comeback bid.

All from the team that is supposed to employ a run-heavy offense. I was impressed with offensive coordinator Greg Roman's play calling as he kept the Chiefs defense off-balance, giving them a high dosage of what appears to be a significantly improved pass attack.

Meanwhile, the Raiders' defense looked better than the sum of its parts against the New England Patriots' offense, which struggled to establish a ground game. The Chargers shouldn't have those same issues with Herbert, Omarion Hampton (who had 48 rushing yards in his debut), and to a much lesser extent, Najee Harris, providing a three-pronged attack.

Additionally, the Chargers were 7-2 ATS on the road last season, 6-1 ATS as the betting favorite on enemy territory, and 2-0 ATS against the Raiders. Admittedly, this Raiders team is substantially better than last season's. Still, the Chargers appear ready to take the next step, and they should bring the Raiders back down to earth in Week 2.

🚑 Chargers vs. Raiders injury report

Chargers vs. Raiders injury updates

The biggest news to keep an eye on is that of Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, who left Week 1 with a knee injury. The star has reported that there are no concerns, but it's worth monitoring as his potential absence would be a major blow.

The Chargers were not so lucky. Linebacker Denzel Perryman is set for miss time after suffering a Week 1 ankle injury, and is week-to-week.

How do NFL odds work?

When betting on NFL odds, the point spread shows how many points the favorite needs to win by in order to cash the bet. For example, a favorite of -3 must win by more than 3 points to cover the spread, while an underdog at +3 must win outright or lose by fewer than 3 points to cover the spread.

Moneyline odds represent the payout for picking the outright winner (+200 means a $100 bet wins $200, while -200 means a $200 bet wins $100). Over/Unders let you wager on whether the combined total will be higher or lower than the set number.
