Eagles vs. Commanders Prediction & Odds: NFL Week 16 Saturday Night Football Betting Preview

I'm backing Philly in my Eagles vs. Commanders prediction, expecting the defending Super Bowl champs to ramp up as they prepare for the playoffs. 

The Eagles are the 6.5-point betting favorite for Saturday's clash at Northwestern Stadium in Landover, Md. (5 p.m. ET, FOX). Our early prediction and opening odds series is part of the NFL predictions for Week 16. 

🚑 Jayden Daniels ruled out for Saturday Night Football against Eagles 

You won't see Jayden Daniels under center for the remainder of the NFL season, the Commanders confirmed on Monday. With no chance of making the playoffs, the team won't put their franchise quarterback in the line of fire. 

I expected as much, which I outlined in my early Eagles vs. Commanders prediction when it was first published early Monday morning. The betting line increased for the Eagles, who moved from the -5.5 to -6.5 point betting favorite after confirmation of Daniels' absence.

The Commanders are wildly inconsistent, even in defeat. Three of their four victories came against the two-win Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants. 

In defeat, they're slightly more predictable, with five of the previous seven losses by at least 21 points. 

The Commanders had the seventh-worst defensive DVOA before their Week 15 victory over the Raiders, while Philly was ranked eighth overall before shutting out Las Vegas.

Despite the Las Vegas Raiders' ineptness, the 31-0 thrashing could represent a get-right game for the Eagles. I expect another 60-minute performance from the visitors as they look to enter the playoffs in peak form.
