Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels’ status for Week 8 is unknown, as I make my best Commanders vs. Chiefs prediction based on opening odds for Monday Night Football. Kickoff from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., is set for 8:15 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN).
My Monday Night Football betting preview and NFL predictions for Week 8 focus on the best early NFL picks for this game, where the Chiefs are a 10-point betting favorite.

🔴 Chiefs -9.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Daniels is reportedly undergoing an MRI on Monday, but head coach Dan Quinn said that he wanted to return against the Dallas Cowboys. Whatever the truth is, the Commanders were pulverized by the Cowboys, even with Daniels on the field, and they’ve now lost three of their last four.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs have won four of their last five, scoring at least 28 points in four consecutive games. The Commanders are allowing 24.3 points and 238.3 passing yards per game. The Chiefs have the seventh-ranked passing offense, and Patrick Mahomes has thrown for at least 250 yards in four straight games.
Most of the best sports betting sites have already moved off the 9.5, but that number remains at FanDuel. The price of -110 implies a 52.38% chance the Chiefs cover. A $10 bet would profit $9.09.
It looks like sportsbooks aren't expecting Daniels to be out there, but 10 points would still be my limit if he doesn't go.

📈 Commanders vs. Chiefs opening odds
- Moneyline: Commanders +150 | Chiefs -200
- Spread: Commanders +6 (-110) | Chiefs -6 (-110)
- Over/Under: Over 51 (-110) | Under 51 (-110)
💡 Commanders vs. Chiefs odds analysis
This spread quickly hit double digits, which looks like Daniels isn't expected to play. All four of the Chiefs' wins are by at least 13 points, so even if Daniels does play, backing the Chiefs up to 9.5 points is fair. However, if Daniels is on the field, I anticipate this spread dropping below a touchdown at all of the best sports betting apps.
The total ranges from 47.5 to 51, and movement will depend on Daniels’ status. If he plays, I expect the total to settle around 50. If he doesn’t, this will drop to 47 or lower.
