Colts vs. Giants Odds Analysis

The Giants opened as 4.5-point favorites and have quickly become the favorite side of many bettors. New York is out to a 5.5-point favorite as of Friday evening, thanks to some pretty heavy splits. DraftKings Sportsbook is reporting a whopping 78% of the tickets and 81% of the handle is on the home side.

The Under appears to be a sharp play with 54% of the bets and 80% of the handle coming in on that side of the total. The opening number of 40.5 is long gone and some shops are even down to 38.5.

Colts vs. Giants Pick

Colts +6 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s hard to look strictly at common opponents for this matchup given the Colts are going to be without running back Jonathan Taylor in this game and have made changes at head coach and quarterback. With that said, Indianapolis managed to cover a spread of 3.5 points a couple of weeks ago against the Minnesota Vikings, and the Giants covered 4.5 against Minnesota last week. Both teams lost on late field goals.

With that, it’s a bit of a stretch to say the Giants are six points better than the Colts, even at home. For starters, MetLife Stadium has never proven to be a huge edge for the teams it hosts. Second, this is not a very good Giants team.

Say what you will about the Colts, but they can at least lay claim to the eighth-best defense in the league according to weighted DVOA. The Giants are down in 31st. Offensively, New York is mediocre at best, ranking 15th in DVOA, while Indy has had well-documented struggles.

I think Colts QB Nick Foles started to hit his stride in the third and fourth quarter of last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers after starting the game miserably. Against a sorry defense on Sunday, this could easily turn into a close game. I’m willing to fade the public and the team with everything to play for in exchange for an Indy team that has looked somewhat competent a couple of times under head coach Jeff Saturday.
