Buccaneers vs. Saints Player Prop Bets: Best Week 8 Player Props & TD Predictions

Tampa Bay could stake its claim as the NFL club most bitten by the injury bug this season, and I explain how the team's injuries, specifically at wide receiver, impact my Buccaneers vs. Saints player prop bets.
Amid all the injuries, the Buccaneers have been bet down from a 5.5 to a 4-point road favorite in this game, which kicks off from Caesars Superdome in New Orleans at 4:05 p.m. ET (FOX) on Sunday afternoon. My NFL picks back the Under on a Baker Mayfield prop, as he will be without two of his top pass-catchers. I also add my favorite anytime touchdown scorer wager to my NFL predictions for Week 8, which is in line with the spirit of National Tight Ends Day.

💰 Best Buccaneers vs. Saints player props
⬇️ Baker Mayfield longest pass completion Under 37.5 yards (-112) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Baker Mayfield is one of the best deep-ball throwers in the league. But not having field-stretcher Mike Evans or Chris Godwin to work underneath should impact the Buccaneers signal-caller’s ability to hit on a big pass play.
With Evans on the field for throws of 15-plus air yards since Mayfield joined the Buccaneers, he has completed 47% of such throws while totaling a 23-8 touchdown-to-interception ratio and a 33% precision-pass percentage. With Evans off the field, Mayfield has completed 40% of such throws for a 7-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio and a 23% precision-pass percentage.
Amid Evans suffering a broken collarbone in the second quarter, Tampa Bay recorded a season-low 4.7 yards per dropback in the second half last week. Granted, the Saints' defense isn’t as formidable as the Lions’, but they should be able to limit a huge pass play with Tampa Bay’s wide receiver room compromised.
A $10 winning wager through FanDuel’s -112 odds at a 52.83% implied probability would net $8.93 in profits.
⬇️ Alvin Kamara Under 71.5 rushing + receiving yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐
Saints running back Alvin Kamara faces a Buccaneers defense that allowed six plays of 20-plus yards last week, three of which came from Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs. But I am not overreacting to that performance, as Kamara looks like his best days are behind him.
Kamara is on pace to set career lows in yards per touch, yards per carry, yards per reception, receiving yards per game, and success rate. All of that has resulted in him eclipsing 80 scrimmage yards in just one of seven games.
For those interested in his +130 anytime touchdown odds (carrying a 43.48% implied probability), know that he has scored just once in his last five games against Tampa Bay.
This line has plummeted from an O/U of 81.5 earlier in the week. But I still find value at BetMGM’s number of 71.5 (it has reached as low as 67.5 at other best sports betting sites), and I'm laying down a $10 wager in the hopes of returning $8.70 in profits.
6️⃣ Best touchdown scorer prediction for Buccaneers vs. Saints
🔥 Cade Otton to score a touchdown (+185) ⭐⭐
Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton is my best touchdown scorer prediction, as his stock is up in the absence of Evans and Godwin.
Otton has averaged 66 receiving yards over the last three games and saw a season-high nine targets with Evans sidelined mid-game last week.
The Saints have allowed the eighth-highest EPA against the pass. And in a two-game stretch from Weeks 8-9 last year when neither Evans or Godwin were available, Otton turned in stat lines of 9-81-2 and 8-77-1 while seeing double-digit targets in each game.
FanDuel’s +185 odds at a 35.09% implied probability would net $18.50 in profits on a $10 winning wager, which is $2 more than Otton’s +165 odds on the low end of the market at other best sports betting apps.
