We're inching closer and closer to the start of the 2022 NFL season. So, while there's still time to speculate, let's take a stab at some of our 2022 NFL bold predictions and long-shot bets.

As we approach the kickoff to the preseason, it’s time to look ahead at some of the more improbable outcomes this campaign. Can a change of scenery reveal the value of a receiver who has watched his quarterback named league MVP year after year? How long will it take a team in turmoil to grab its first victory of the season?

These picks are long shots for a reason, but each is possible in what will certainly be a volatile NFL season.

Here are my top long-shot picks for the 2022 NFL season (odds via FanDuel SportsbookDraftKings Sportsbook, and Barstool Sportsbook).

Top NFL Long-Shot Bets for 2022

Koo To Score Most Kicking Points (+3000)

Though it's not the most glamorous position, kickers score points almost every game. Koo finished the 2020 season with 144 total points, tied for most in the league with Daniel Carlson and Jason Sanders. He declined a bit in 2021, finishing with only 111 points. However, that represented one-third of the Atlanta Falcons' 313 total points for the season.

Ryan Succop scored 136 points in 2017 and finished inside the top 10 in kicking points with Marcus Mariota under center with the Tennessee Titans. Expect Koo to rebound from a tough season and regain his spot among the league's best kickers.

Adams To Win MVP (+20000)

The last non-quarterback to win this award was Adrian Peterson in 2012. However, Davante Adams is in a great spot this season to break the 10-year drought.

First, he'll reunite with his former Fresno State teammate Derek Carr. In his two seasons with Carr, Adams caught 233 passes for 3,031 yards and 38 touchdowns.

For his part, Adams has posted 1,000-yard receiving efforts in three of his last four seasons. Meanwhile, Carr has four straight seasons with over 4,000 yards passing without a true No. 1 wide receiver for most of them.

What makes this bet enticing is the fact that Aaron Rodgers has been named MVP three times since Adams joined Green Bay. The last two were due in large part to the efforts of his star wideout.

Browns To Be Last Winless Team (+3000)

The Browns just found out they will be without their starting quarterback for the first six games of the season. Of course, even when Deshaun Watson returns, his next few games are against the Ravens, Bengals, Dolphins, Bills, and the Buccaneers. There's a very real possibility that Cleveland is 0-11 by the time Watson returns to Houston to take on his former team in Week 13.

Cleveland will enter the season with Jacoby Brissett under center. Last season, Brissett had only two wins in five starts for the Miami Dolphins. His six games at the helm will be against the Panthers, Jets, Steelers, Falcons, Chargers, and Patriots. Last season, Cleveland was winless in its four games against Pittsburgh, New England, and Los Angeles.
