Had the Bills been able to rise above the New England Patriots in the AFC East, they would have been hosting a playoff game with the unique home-field advantage of the harsh upstate New York weather in January.

Instead, they travel to face the sizzling Jaguars for a game that will be played in nearly pristine conditions. The wind could present some minor issues at its highest gusting, but the temperature is perfect, with little chance of precipitation. As noted in our Bills vs. Jaguars prediction, that sets Jacksonville up to thrive.

Bills vs. Jaguars weather impact

  • Lawrence's mistake-free play. Trevor Lawrence has been sizzling in general, but eliminating turnovers has been one of the underrated parts of his play recently. He's thrown 15 touchdown passes with only one interception across his last six games, and the elements shouldn't be a hurdle today.
  • Shootout coming? Yes, two respectable defenses in most regards will be on the field, with the Bills and Jaguars ranking 12th and eighth, respectively, in scoring defense. But this game is getting easily the highest total of Wild Card Weekend at 51.5, and the ideal conditions won't stand in the way of two top-six offenses approaching or exceeding that number.
  • Airing it out. Lawrence has posted a per-attempt passing average of higher than eight yards five times during the Jaguars' eight-game winning streak, topping out at 10.3 in Week 15. The Bills boast the league's best pass defense, but the white-hot Lawrence won't need to also contend with much weather, beyond some wind gusts.
