After edging Georgetown last Saturday, UConn head coach Dan Hurley cited playing five Big East games in 13 days as a likely reason for the team’s sluggish effort. The Huskies now hold no such excuses after enjoying their week off.
UConn is 18-1 or better for the seventh time since 1980. Its hot start is a product of a defense that ranks in the top five in adjusted defensive efficiency, effective field-goal percentage, and 3-point percentage allowed.
While Villanova is 5-1 against the spread at a rest disadvantage, its 63.5 points per game against ranked opponents will not cut it today.
