After UConn upset Illinois to bring Dan Hurley's March Madness record to 18-1 over the last four years, and Michigan drubbed Arizona for a fifth straight double-digit win in the NCAA Tournament, the national championship game is set for Monday at 8:50 p.m. ET (TBS/truTV) from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

While the Huskies are attempting to win a third title in four years, my early UConn vs. Michigan prediction projects the Wolverines to lift the championship trophy, as part of our March Madness predictions.

Michigan is a 6.5 to 7.5-point betting favorite by the March Madness national championship opening odds.

Michigan -6.5 (-120)

Michigan is a juggernaut that has shown no signs of slowing down, not even when it was temporarily without Yaxel Lendeborg in its win over Arizona. The Wolverines average margin of victory in the NCAA Tournament is 21.6, and they lead the nation in net rating (+39.72).

UConn's offense has leaned heavily on well-timed Braylon Mullins 3-pointers and the physicality of Tarris Reed, but the Wolverines have the perimeter defense and size to match. Dusty May's team allows the lowest effective field-goal percentage in the country (44.9%).

This is a historically dominant Michigan team.

Score prediction: Michigan 78, UConn 68

UConn vs. Michigan line movement

Michigan opened between a 6.5 and 7.5-point betting favorite at our best March Madness betting sites. The health of All-American Lendeborg could impact the line, but he's already stated he plans to play on Monday night.

However, I could see this line moving in the Huskies' direction simply because of UConn's blue blood brand name and Hurley's recent success. The Huskies are 11-0 ATS in the Sweet 16 or later under Hurley.

For fellow Michigan bettors, it might be worth waiting to bet on the national championship until Monday to see if the public moves this line. It wouldn't be a shock to see Michigan hovering around -5.5 by tipoff.
