Tipoff from Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Ala., is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN). No. 13 Alabama (11-4, 1-1 SEC), coming off a road loss Wednesday, is an 11.5-point betting favorite. Texas (9-6, 0-2) has dropped back-to-back games and three of its last five, and I expect the Longhorns’ struggles to continue today.

Now that Alabama is back home, I don’t see how Texas slows this team down. The Crimson Tide are second nationally in adjusted offensive efficiency and 11th in adjusted tempo. They are fourth in scoring with an average of 93.9 points per game.
Texas, on the other hand, has given up 186 points across the past two games. The Longhorns rank 120th in adjusted defensive efficiency. They’ve surrendered at least 85 points in four of their six losses.
Assuming this game turns into a track meet, Alabama has the firepower to pull away.

Prior to this recent stretch of games, Philon started the year with 20-plus points in six of Alabama’s first seven wins. For the season, Philon is averaging 21.3 points per contest.
With his health trending in the right direction, I think now is the time to buy low on Philon’s stock.
