Auburn entered its quarterfinal matchup against Ole Miss on pace to be the best offensive team (per ORtg) in the history of KenPom, dating back to 1997. However, the Rebels held the Tigers to 62 points (28.6% from beyond the arc) and forced them into more turnovers (15) than assists (14).

Now, Auburn faces the only other team to hold it to fewer than 66 points this year, Tennessee, which narrowly lost on the road (53-51) on Jan. 25. These two teams also played a 46-43 rock fight two years ago, and it is clear both Rick Barnes and Bruce Pearl are more than familiar with each other’s schemes.

That is why I am glad to take the points in what should be another defensive struggle. This is a four-star play, as Tennessee entered the first matchup with a 90th percentile catch and shoot rate allowed and a 100th percentile efficiency rating, per Synergy. I am grabbing the 4.5 points with the Nashville crowd behind the Volunteers.
