Stanford and West Virginia square off tonight in a College Basketball Crown quarterfinal matchup, with tipoff set for 8 p.m. ET at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The Cardinal enter as 1.5-point favorites in this ACC vs. Big 12 showdown, which will be broadcast on FS1.

The best bet in my Stanford vs. West Virginia prediction is going to bypass spread points, though, and look at the moneyline, and I also have a team total included in my College Basketball Crown predictions.

🏆 Who will win Stanford vs. West Virginia tonight?

Stanford is in its second consecutive postseason tournament under head coach Kyle Smith, and went 8-6 away from home this season, with a 3-0 record in neutral site contests. Smith is the first coach in program history to win 20-plus games in each of his first two seasons with Stanford, and I expect him to get career win No. 300 in this matchup.

Score prediction: Stanford 69, West Virginia 65

💰 Stanford vs. West Virginia prediction & best bet

Stanford ML (-118)

Stanford won the Acrisure Invitational this year while beating Minnesota (fellow Crown invitee) and Saint Louis (NCAA Tournament Round of 32 participant). The Cardinal became the first team in the NET era to record at least 20 wins, with five coming in Quad 1 games and a winning record in Quad 1 and 2 combined, but miss the NCAA Tournament.

West Virginia’s defense will get much of the hype being ranked 17th in adjusted defensive efficiency. But Stanford does a great job of making opponents play in isolation, with the seventh-lowest assist rate allowed per made field goal.

🏀 The College Basketball Crown semifinals

Oklahoma and Baylor punched their tickets to the CBC semifinal yesterday, and I'm back Stanford to be the third team in. As for the final spot, my Rutgers vs. Creighton prediction prediction breaks down the final game.

🔥 Best Stanford vs. West Virginia player prop bet tonight

West Virginia team total Under 67.5 (-120)

West Virginia plays at the third-slowest tempo in the country, which helped its defense to a top-50 defensive efficiency rating in 13 games versus the KenPom top 50. But it wasn’t successful overall in those games because it is a highly limited offensive team, with a 143rd offensive efficiency rating against that same competition.

Baylor was one of the only Big 12 teams that used zone defense in its regular rotation. But Stanford relied heavily on a matchup zone down the stretch of the regular season, and I don’t expect the Mountaineers to find an answer for it even with extended prep.

🚀 Stanford vs. West Virginia same-game parlay

DraftKings is my go-to top sports betting site for this same-game parlay out of necessity, as it was the only of our best sports betting sites offering props of any kind as of this writing. Because it had the steepest -122 moneyline odds for Stanford, I am pivoting to a point spread wager as the first leg of this parlay, especially since laying the 1.5 points pays plus-money odds.

💵 Stanford vs. West Virginia SGP picks

  • Stanford -1.5 (+100)
  • Under 135.5 (-110)
  • West Virginia team total Under 67.5 (-120)

Best odds: +600 via DraftKings (0.25u -> 1.5u)

🤑 Stanford vs. West Virginia betting splits

Here's my analysis of the most-bet NBA player props tonight (h/t BetMGM):

Bet type % of bets 🎟️ % of handle 💰
Stanford ML (+100) 35% 51%
West Virginia ML (-120) 65% 49%
Stanford +1.5 41% 48%
West Virginia -1.5 59% 52%
Over 136.5 48% 29%
Under 136.5 52% 71%

The sharp money is pouring in on both Stanford's moneyline and spread. The sharp money on the total is on the Under, and I lean the Under in this spot. -LJ Blut

💡 How I'm betting Stanford vs. West Virginia: College Basketball Crown strategy

Follow all of our college basketball analysis and expert predictions for March Madness.

If player props ever surface for this game, I would take a long look at Stanford's Ebuka Okorie's points total. Okorie ranks eighth in the country, averaging 22.8 points per game, and third among freshmen, behind only BYU’s AJ Dybantsa and Arkansas’ Darius Acuff Jr.

Okorie became the first Stanford freshman with four straight 20-point games since 2007, and he accomplished that twice this season. Otherwise, the above three wagers are all one-unit plays, but I may get involved with a live Under if it looks like the game is being played at a snail's pace early.

📊 Live Stanford vs. West Virginia odds: College Basketball Crown Quarterfinals

Caesars is the only sportsbook that ever differed from a line of Stanford -1.5 all week, as it opened at -1. Otherwise, the only line movement has been in the juice, with FanDuel most notably going from +102 to -104 to lay the points with the favorites.

Comparatively, there has been much more line movement in the total across the market. Caesars moved from an opening number of 134.5 to as high as 136.5 before settling back in at an O/U of 135.5. FanDuel saw similar movement, reaching a high of 136.5 before returning to its original number of 135.5.
