Michigan vs. Auburn Prediction & Odds: College Basketball Betting Preview for Nov. 25

I expect a reversal of fortunes for these teams after Auburn beat Michigan in last year’s Sweet 16.

My Michigan vs. Auburn prediction breaks down this rematch from last year’s Sweet 16, as it is one of two ranked vs. ranked matchups in the Player Era Festival today. The action gets underway from Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas at 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT).

No. 7 Michigan is a 3.5-point betting favorite in this game against No. 21 Auburn, and I expect the Wolverines to have the edge surrounding injury concerns for one of the Tigers’ star players.

These matchups are a part of Feast Week, and you can stay on top of all the hoops action this Thanksgiving with our college basketball Feast Week guide.

🏀 Michigan vs. Auburn preview & score prediction

Auburn is looking for a second straight impressive run in an early season tournament after claiming the title at the Maui Invitational in one of the most loaded fields ever. But this is a different Tigers squad with a first-year head coach, and I am giving the nod to a Final Four head coach in Dusty May and the Wolverines.

Auburn’s big injury concern

UCF transfer Keyshawn Hall was looking like one of the best offseason pickups for any D-I program, as he averaged 23.3 points and 11.0 rebounds through the first four games of the season for Auburn. After suffering a lateral ankle and foot sprain in a one-point loss to Houston, it is anyone’s guess how he will look playing on consecutive days after logging a team-high 36 minutes yesterday.

Speaking of transfers, Michigan is going to be scary when it gets more consistent production from UAB transfer Yaxel Lendeborg. After averaging 11.7 points and 6.3 rebounds over the first three games, Lendeborg entered this tournament on the heels of his best game as a Wolverine, finishing with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and shooting 9-for-12 from the field against Middle Tennessee.

Michigan was great on no rest last year, covering both of its games, and three of the last four such games since 2023.

If the Wolverines win by four or more points, my $10 wager through Caesars’ -110 price at 52.38% implied odds would net $9.09 in profits.

Michigan isn't my only favorite I expect to cover the spread today - I dish out another in my favorite college basketball best bets today.

Score prediction: Michigan 84, Auburn 78

🆚 Michigan vs. Auburn matchup to watch

Elliot Cadeau vs. Auburn defense

Michigan struggled with a 32% turnover rate and 22 total turnovers two games ago against TCU’s ball pressure and hedging defenses.

But Auburn entered the tournament ranked 115th in turnover rate forced, which should give Wolverines point guard Elliot Cadeau a chance at much more success after recording a 9-to-13 assist-to-turnover ratio over the previous three games prior to this tournament.

Dusty May has tinkered with his lineups all season, and has smartly used Lendeborg, who has produced offensive ratings of 143 or higher in three straight games after a clunker against Wake Forest (offensive rating of 67).

That should all lead to Michigan going Over its projected team total for the second straight game.

Best prop bet: Michigan team total Over 82.5 (-110 via DraftKings)
