🏀 Miami (OH) vs. Tennessee Prediction & Picks: March Madness First Found (March 20)
Last Updated: March 19, 2026 2:09 PM EDT • 4 minute read X Social Google News Link
No. 11 Miami (OH) proved the doubters wrong once, but holding its own against a bona fide March Madness qualifier in No. 6 Tennessee will present another challenge. Up against a whopping double-digit spread, my Miami (OH) vs. Tennessee prediction is skeptical of the Redhawks reliance on the three for this matchup.
The action tips off from Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Friday at 4:25 p.m. ET (TBS). Tennessee is an 11.5-point betting favorite as part of our March Madness predictions.

🏆 Who will win Miami (OH) vs. Tennessee?
See the latest March Madness odds for every team in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
I'm taking Tennessee to win this one by 12 points. Miami (OH) vaulted through the First Four with an 89-point outburst guided by 16 made threes, but that strategy won't be viable against the Volunteers, who gridlock the pace and clamp down defensively beyond the arc.
Score prediction: Tennessee 79, Miami 67
💰 Miami (OH) vs. Tennessee prediction & best bet
Tennessee -10.5 (-120)
Miami (OH) let it fly against SMU, hitting 16-of-41 threes (39%), but I don't see that strategy resulting in a favorable outcome against Tennessee. The Volunteers allow just 30.6% on opposing three-point attempts.
Miami's proclivity toward that style combined with Tennessee's efficiency (15th in defensive rating) in snuffing it out should suppress scoring. With the Vols' adjusted tempo at 307th nationally, I see Miami (70th in offensive rating) falling behind in a lower-scoring affair and ending up frustrated that bombing threes as a comeback strategy only serves to worsen the deficit.
🔥 Best Miami (OH) vs. Tennessee player prop bet
Eian Elmer Under 2.5 threes made (-145)
Miami (OH) sharpshooter Eian Elmer knocked down six of his nine three-point attempts in the Redhawks' First Four win over SMU, but in keeping with the theme of my read on this matchup, I don't see Miami having that same level of success on deep shooting against Tennessee.
Elmer has fallen short of three made threes in 21 out of 33 games this season (63.6%), a rate greater than the 59.18% implied probability based on -145 odds for Under 2.5 made threes from bet365.
🚀 Miami (OH) vs. Tennessee same-game parlay
I'm projecting fewer points from Miami (OH) against Tennessee's grinding defense (allows 69.4 PPG), which correlates naturally to a lower three-point output from Eian Elmer and an opportunity for Tennessee to cover the spread despite the large line on this matchup.
FanDuel doesn't offer Elmer's three-point prop, but his point total at 14.5 is another fade (achieved in 12 of 33 games), so we're playing this SGP at FanDuel to gain access to a better line on Tennessee spread than the -11.5 offered by bet365.
💵 Miami (OH) vs. Tennessee SGP picks
- Tennessee -10.5
- Miami Under 68.5 total points
- Eian Elmer Under 14.5 points
Best odds: +239 via Sportsbook (0.5u -> 1.19u)

💡 How I'm betting Miami (OH) vs. Tennessee: March Madness strategy
Follow all of our college basketball analysis and expert predictions for March Madness.
I'm playing these picks in one unit increments on this matchup. If one of these three picks hit, the other two are liable to do so due to the closely correlated nature of a low Miami scoring output equating to a quiet game from Elmer which likely results in a Tennessee onslaught against the spread.
To limit our overall exposure, though, we'll stick to half a unit on the SGP.
📊 Live Miami (OH) vs. Tennessee odds: March Madness First Round
Tennessee opened at -11.5 and we've seen that line hold in some spots while shifting down to -10.5 in others. I don't think the public is likely to fade this darling Miami group, so we could see additional small movement toward the tightening of this line.
The total has dropped from its open at 149.5 down to between 148.5 and 149 across our top sportsbooks.
