Iowa State built a nine-point lead 10 minutes into the game in the first meeting against BYU, but the Cougars went on a 49-19 run because of their dominance on the backboards.

BYU out-rebounded Iowa State 52-24, which I expect to regress heavily in this rematch considering the Cougars went into the first meeting ranked in the fourth percentile in rim rate allowed defensively.

In addition, the Cyclones’ intense ball pressure forced BYU guards Egor Demin and Dallin Hall into six turnovers each. Iowa State should again take advantage of that while getting easy buckets in transition.

Iowa State should not be underestimated because of a subpar 4-5 stretch from late January to the end of February when several players were dealing with illnesses and injuries
