🏀 Illinois vs. UConn Prediction: Final Four Opening Odds & Early March Madness Picks
Last Updated: March 29, 2026 8:06 PM EDT • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link
Following one of the greatest games in March Madness history, the first of two Final Four games on Saturday, April 4 features no No. 1 seeds, and my Illinois vs. UConn prediction and early picks expect a tight one.
No. 3 seed Illinois is a 2.5-point betting favorite against No. 2 seed UConn for Saturday's matchup at 6:09 p.m. ET (TBS/truTV) from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, and my March Madness predictions project offense to win the day.

Illinois -2.5 (-102)
UConn takes on an Illinois team that's looked better than Duke. The Fighting Illini are No. 1 nationally in offensive efficiency and No. 11 in defensive efficiency since the start of the NCAA Tournament.
Not only does Illinois rank in the top 10 in offensive rebound rate (39.5%) and turnover rate (13.2%), but Brad Underwood's team is the tallest in the country. That length should create problems for UConn's offense.
The Huskies' offense is sporadic and ranks outside the top 25 in efficiency and effective field-goal percentage (55%), and will struggle to keep up.
Score prediction: Illinois 71, UConn 67

Illinois vs. UConn line movement
Illinois was set to open as a 3.5-point underdog against Duke at our best March Madness betting sites, but then UConn put together a historic comeback. Between the way the Huskies beat the Blue Devils, their "new blood" brand name, and Dan Hurley's March track record, I expect the public to be all over UConn.
While the Fighting Illini opened as a 2.5-point betting favorite, this line could be closer to a pick'em by tip-off on Saturday in Indianapolis. So, it might be worth holding off on betting this Final Four showdown for fellow Illinois backers.
Meanwhile, the game total shouldn't see too much movement. Both of these teams have been solid Under bets all season, and with Illinois' defensive play throughout March Madness, the Fighting Illini are 3-1 betting the Under in the NCAA Tournament.
