My Harvard vs. St. John’s predictions are counting on a letdown performance by the Red Storm when they host the Crimson before the holiday break. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. ET today at Carnesecca Arena in Jamaica, New York (FS1).

St. John’s (7-4) is a 26.5-point home betting favorite, but there are multiple reasons why Harvard (6-6) should stay within that number during tonight’s battle.

The final game before the holiday break isn’t the time to be laying such a huge number. These kids are eager to go home and not think about basketball. Students are already home. I expect a typical sleepy performance from St. John’s.

Even if it weren’t for that, the Red Storm are being a tad inflated. KenPom projects them to win by 21, as they’ve underwhelmed since starting the year No. 5 in the AP poll. St. John’s has already lost four times before the new year.

St. John’s has failed to cover the spread in five straight games. I expect that trend to continue tonight, and I'm backing Harvard +26.5 at BetMGM's -110 odds.
