St. John’s vs. Creighton prediction: Creighton +1.5 (-122 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Creighton has won five of six games, inserting itself into the conversation as the Big East’s second-best team. Its only loss came on the road despite holding Seton Hall to 56 points and winning the rebounding battle by seven.

Though St. John’s is coming off a solid win at Butler, it is still becoming too reliant on Zuby Ejiofor. Ejiofor scored 33 of the team’s 71 points in the loss to Providence, with eight of the other nine players who saw action scoring six or fewer.

It will take more from the Red Storm supporting cast to earn this win.

Penn State vs. Purdue prediction: Purdue -22 (-110 via Caesars) ⭐⭐⭐

This wager sells high on Penn State after its last-ditch comeback attempt against Michigan fell two points short on Tuesday.

Purdue’s Braden Smith just broke the Big Ten assist record. He is on pace to crush the conference’s assists per game record, as his current 7.2 APG trumps the current record holder Mateen Cleaves’ 6.63.

The Boilermakers average 1.19 points per shot when Smith faces drop coverage, and 1.18 points against hedges. Thus, this game is setting up to look like when Penn State allowed 113 points in its last true road game against Indiana.

Kingston Flemings Over 17.5 points (-114 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Houston’s Kingston Flemings has been a welcomed source of offense amid a stretch where veterans Milos Uzan and Emmanuel Sharp are in shooting slumps.

Flemings is averaging 21 points and 5.5 assists over the first two games in conference play, and is shooting 61.1% in the paint and 70.8% at the rim. His usage has increased from 24% on the season to 32% in league play (fourth-highest in the conference), which suggests this is good value for him to exceed this projected total for the fourth time in five games.

Tyler Tanner Under 5.5 assists (+120 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

Vanderbilt point guard Tyler Tanner has the highest assist rate in SEC play (56.8%), totaling 21 in that span. His program record 14 assists came when leading scorer Duke Miles missed with an injury, and his seven assists in the last game was a part of a high-possession track meet against Alabama.

LSU entered conference play ranked ninth in offensive efficiency. That number is down to 38th after averaging 70 points in two losses, and the Tigers know they need to grind this game to a halt.

This is a three-star play, as LSU allows the 42nd-lowest assist rate.
