My ATS plays tonight include what could be the game of the year among mid-majors in Saint Louis vs. VCU. From a college basketball player props perspective, I’m making a contrarian play by fading a Big East team’s leading scorer while looking to exploit another favorable matchup in the same conference.

Saint Louis vs. VCU prediction: Saint Louis +1.5 (-105 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
VCU’s Siegel Center is one of the most difficult environments, but if anyone can handle it, it is a Billikens team that ranks 34th in D-I experience.
Saint Louis is the only team in the top 12 in both 2-point and 3-point shooting.
After ranking in the top 27 of adjusted defensive efficiency in four of the last five seasons, VCU is outside of the top 75 in that metric under new head coach Phil Martelli Jr.
A shootout does not favor VCU, and I expect Saint Louis will improve its 66.7% cover rate.
SMU vs. Clemson prediction: Clemson -4.5 (-105 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐
With SMU coming off one of its biggest wins this century against North Carolina, I am expecting a letdown in this road matchup against Clemson.
SMU’s best path to an upset is its top-35 offensive rebounding rate against top-300 competition. But Clemson is built to negate that strength, ranking 14th in defensive rebounding rate.
The Tigers out-rebounded both top-13 teams they lost to (Alabama and BYU). But SMU does not have the NBA talent or elite one-on-one playmakers to break down a Clemson defense that ranks 11th in 3-point percentage allowed (28%).

Bryce Lindsay Under 15.5 points (-115 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Bryce Lindsay leads Villanova in scoring at 16.9 points per game, with 46 of his 79 made field goals coming from 3-point range. The problem is that Creighton allows 3-point attempts at the sixth-lowest rate among D-I teams, which lowers Lindsay’s ceiling for scoring considerably.
With each passing day, Villanova’s upswing and recent success is seemingly a product of its offensive balance. Five Wildcats scored in double figures in the win over Butler, and similarly balanced scoring should mean Lindsay will stay Under this projected total for the third time in the last five games.
Malik Moore Over 3.5 assists (-130 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐
Xavier shooting guard Malik Moore has a 21.3% assist rate, but a much lower 14.8% rate in four conference games. Even though he has three or fewer assists in four of the last five, this is still a Musketeers squad that assists on 69.1% of their made field goals, the third-highest rate in D-I.
Marquette has been a sieve defensively during its six-game losing streak, allowing 81.5 points per game. This is a great matchup for Moore to pad his stats, especially since the Golden Eagles rank in the bottom 60 in assist rate allowed.
