Seton Hall vs. Marquette prediction: Seton Hall -2 (-105 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐

Seton Hall dropped a battle of teams fighting for a top-three Big East finish (behind UConn and St. John’s, presumably), as it scored 56 points in a loss to Villanova.

But that has more to do with Wildcats head coach Kevin Willard’s familiarity with the program. It also shouldn’t take away from the fact that Seton Hall increased its KenPom rank by 37 spots from Nov. 24 to Dec. 16, the most among high-major programs.

There are bad vibes surrounding the Marquette program, especially after guard Zaide Lowery is no longer with the team after starting the first nine games.

New Mexico vs. Boise State prediction: Under 146.5 (-110 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Twelve games in, and the Boise State defense looks like it typically does under head coach Leon Rice. The Broncos force bad shots despite not having a true rim protector and rebound well, ranking third in offensive rebounding percentage allowed.

Boise State is built to handle New Mexico’s pick-and-pop game with drop coverage. It suffices to say that the Lobos will need to connect from 3-point range for their primary offense (they rank 72nd in 3-point attempts per field goal attempt). But the Broncos defense is top 35 in percentage of opponents’ points allowed from beyond the arc.

Caleb Wilson Over 21.5 points (-115 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐

The pessimistic approach to this wager would be to say that North Carolina’s stud freshman Caleb Wilson has stayed Under this projected total in eight consecutive games. But the optimistic view is that he has scored 20-plus in five straight despite being limited to 31 or fewer minutes in three of those, as the Tar Heels played just one team inside KenPom’s top 100 in that span.

Butler forward Michael Ajayi has made just one 3-point attempt in his last three games overall. But he also has one made triple in five of the last seven, making this worth a flier at plus-money odds despite Creighton allowing the 10th-fewest percentage of 3-point attempts in the country.

This is a three-star play, as Ajayi ranks third in Big East action in percentage of his team’s minutes played, and is in the top 25 in percentage of his team’s shots taken. His availability to play big minutes should see him knock down at least one perimeter shot.
