My college basketball best bets and player props today look to build off yesterday’s 4-0 sweep by diving into the Wednesday college basketball slate that features three AP-ranked teams, two of which are playing conference opponents.

Today’s college basketball slate features an intriguing blend of non-conference action, headlined by the doubleheader at the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic, and conference play from the Big Ten. My college basketball predictions include my best ATS play on a game in that big event, while also backing the Unders on two player props in Big Ten matchups.

🐶  Albany vs. Yale prediction: Yale -17.5 (-110 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Yale thus far looks like a team that will not be challenged for an Ivy League regular-season title, especially after winning three games in four days to capture the Paradise Jam Championship. It saved its best performance for last, scoring 97 points for the third time against Akron, while shooting 72% in the second half and getting 26 points from its bench.

Albany’s only three wins have come against non-D-I competition to this point. It lost its season opener to Marquette by 27 points despite the Golden Eagles making just 5-of-17 unguarded catch-and-shoots. Marquette also averaged 0.44 points per possession under expectation on jump shots in general, per Synergy.

The Great Danes are coming off a 28-point loss to a Columbia team that was projected to finish dead-last in the Ivy League Preseason Poll, and that spells trouble when facing a Bulldogs team that earned all 21 first-place votes in that same poll.

bet365 is the only one of our best sports betting sites charging the standard -110 juice at 52.38% implied odds to back the favorites. If Yale covers, a $10 winning wager would net $9.09 in profits.

⬇️  Idaho vs. Notre Dame prediction: Under 143.5 (-105 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

Few teams have seen their stock rise as much as Notre Dame’s over the last week, after the Fighting Irish won against MIssouri and at TCU in overtime.

The latest win was a costly one as, as leading scorer Markus Burton (18.5 points per game) played just 10 minutes after needing to be helped off the floor with an injury.

To their credit, others like Jalen Haralson stepped up in Burton’s absence, as the freshman scored a season-high 20 points on an efficient 8-of-12 shooting. But without Burton, the team also loses its most dynamic playmaker.

The ceiling is low offensively for both teams in this matchup, as each ranks in the top 30 in defensive rebounding rate and plays at a tempo ranked outside the top 260th-fastest among D-I teams.

Not only does FanDuel offer a total of a full point higher than the lowest number on the market at 142.5, but it charges minimal juice (the -105 odds carry a 51.22% implied probability). If the Under cashes, my $10 winning wager would return $9.52 in profit.

⬇️  Isaac Asuma, SG, Minnesota: Under 9.5 points (-115 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Purdue’s C.J. Cox has been one of the top two-way players in the Big Ten. In his two most high-profile matchups, he held Alabama’s Labaron Philon to 11 points on 5-of-14 shooting (well below his 21.6 points per game average) and Texas Tech’s Christian Anderson to 13 points on 5-of-15 shooting (well below his 18.1 points per game average).

In Purdue’s latest game, Cox had the primary responsibility of guarding Tamin Lipsey in his first game back, and held him to nine points on just seven field goal attempts. Thus, the ceiling is lowered for Isaac Asuma, despite him scoring in double figures and averaging 14 points over the last two games.

If Asuma scores nine or fewer points, a $10 winning wager through bet365’s -115 odds would net $8.70 in profits.

⬇️  Rienk Mast, C, Nebraska: Under 5.5 rebounds (-110 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐

Rienk Mast has pulled down five or fewer rebounds in four of the last five games. Despite standing 6-foot-10, his 13.8% defensive rebounding ranks sixth on the team, and is even lower than senior point guard Sam Hoiberg’s 15.5% rate.

Mast figures to be drawn further away from the basket when guarding Wisconsin center Nolan Winter, who has multiple 3-point attempts in seven of nine games. And Mast’s ceiling for offensive rebounds is lowered against a Badgers squad that allows offensive rebounds at the 11th-lowest rate in the country.

Should Mast stay Under this projected total for the fifth time in six games, a $10 winning wager would return $9.09 in profits.
