This SEC matchup between No. 13 Alabama and No. 11 Vanderbilt is slated to tip off from Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tenn., at 9 p.m. ET (ESPN2), with Vanderbilt entering as a 4-point betting favorite. Along with expecting Vanderbilt to cover the spread, I’m backing a Commodores guard to remain one of the country’s best facilitators after coming off a career day.

Vanderbilt -4 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐
Vanderbilt won 83-71 at South Carolina on Saturday without leading scorer Duke Miles (17.1 points per game). This becomes a more confident four-star play if Miles is active, but either way it’s a great spot to sell high on Alabama.
The Crimson Tide just turned in their 34th game with 15-plus made 3-pointers in Nate Oats’ tenure. But I’m not buying much into Alabama’s 15-point win against Kentucky, as the Wildcats have lost three games by that margin.
Alabama’s advantage over most teams is its unique frenetic pace, but Vanderbilt will match that speed with the 44th-fastest adjusted tempo.

Tyler Tanner is coming off a career day, tying a school record with 14 assists in the win over South Carolina. He either scored or assisted on 65% of the team’s 83 points, the most created by a Commodore in 20 years.
If Duke Miles is active, Tanner will have the ball in his hands less. Even still, Tanner has seven-plus assists in five of the previous six games and exceeded this projected total in six of seven.
He ranks 84th in the country with a 30.8% assist rate, which means his ceiling for assists should remain high.
