After three straight losses, the Trail Blazers bounced back in a big way over the weekend, dispatching the Dallas Mavericks on back-to-back nights with monster victories. Damian Lillard has been cooking, averaging 38 points across his last five appearances, and the superstar guard will need to be at his best if he hopes to lead his team to victory.

The Denver Nuggets continue to dominate at home. Sporting the Association’s best home record at 19-3, Denver has reeled off 13 straight wins at home and sits as the No. 1 seed in the West. Can the Nuggets and reigning MVP Nikola Jokic win a 14th straight and cover against their division rivals?

The Nuggets opened as 7.5-point favorites, and the line has come down just a point to 6.5. Denver is 13-0 straight-up across its last 13 home games and 8-4-1 against the spread in those contests. The Nuggets have the second-best point differential at home this season at a healthy 11.1 points per game. Simply playing an average game at Ball Arena will be enough for Denver to cover this spread.

Bettors favor the Nuggets to cover and have laid down 62% of tickets on the Nuggets' point spread. Denver is 11-8-1 as the home favorite this season, and Portland is 9-8 as the road underdog.

The point total continues to rise in this matchup of talented offenses. Sitting at 238.5, this number has risen five points since opening at 233.5.

Portland dropped 276 points on the Mavericks across two games over the weekend, so the team will come in on a heater. The Blazers have hit the Over in each of the last three games, but the team is just 8-16 on the road and 6-11 as the road underdog this season. The Trail Blazers actually allow more points and score more points per game at home, and Denver allows more on the road, offering a partial explanation for the Overs. In the Under game at Denver, the teams combined for just 227 points.

The Nuggets rank 14th in opponent points per game at 113.1, but the team is sixth at home, allowing just 108.6 points at Ball Arena. Portland ranks seventh in points per game allowed on the road at 111.8. Both defenses should be at their best in this one.

This total is likely inflated due to Portland’s feverish offense against the Mavericks, but Dallas was decimated with injuries over the weekend, and Portland’s output is a bit misleading without that context.

This line continues to creep up, and we’re hammering the Under. I’d be comfortable betting this down to 230.5, so this feels like a slam dunk.
