The Los Angeles Lakers host the Phoenix Suns in a matchup of two struggling heavyweights in the Western Conference, and our Suns vs. Lakers NBA player props based on the best NBA odds from the best sports betting apps believe Anthony Davis will continue to dominate in a favorable matchup on Thursday.

Weeks after winning the NBA's inaugural In-Season Tournament, the Los Angeles Lakers (19-19) got back to .500 on Tuesday after securing a controversial win over the Toronto Raptors. They'll face a stiff test on Thursday against the Phoenix Suns (19-18), who have lost two straight and dropped all three meetings in this series but are still favored to win this one.

The Suns were without at least one of their top three stars in all three of those previous losses to the Lakers, which is why they have earned the slight nod from oddsmakers ahead of this fourth encounter. Los Angeles star Anthony Davis has excelled against Phoenix this season, and he'll need another big showing to help the Lakers sustain a winning streak on Thursday.

Anthony Davis Over 3.5 assists (+120 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I don't even project Davis to finish with four assists against the Suns. But with a projection of 3.8 assists, this line should be priced at -107 instead of the +120 value we're getting at bet365. Pinnacle, which features one of the sharper trading teams among our best sportsbooks, has moved the line on this Over from +121 to -101 as of Thursday morning.

Davis has been on an incredible offensive heater for the Lakers, averaging 30.8 points, 11 rebounds, and 4.3 assists across four games in January. All four of those matchups came against teams ranked in the top 17 of defensive rating, with three against squads sitting in the top half of the league on that end of the floor.

The Suns, who sit 22nd in adjusted defensive rating via dunks and threes, are not as effective at getting stops. And they've been struggling to match Davis' length inside, allowing him to record 75 points and 38 rebounds over three outings against Phoenix in 2023-24. Davis has only tallied seven assists in those games, but four occurred in one affair.

Davis has cleared this mark in three of his six matchups against the Suns over the last two years. He's netted four-plus assists in seven of his last 10 contests, and the veteran simply shouldn't be trading at plus money to continue his recent run.

Booker might not be exceeding this mark recently, but that's not due to a lack of volume. He's attempted 50 shots over that three-game span, scoring 20-plus points in each outing. The only time he's reached this plateau in January is when Booker hit five triples against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Fortunately for the three-time All-Star, the Lakers offer a solid matchup for anyone looking to get hot from distance. They're giving up the league's most 3-pointers per game (14.4) and rank 25th while allowing teams to shoot 37.6% from deep. We're backing Booker to return to a scoring rhythm in this one, and we would even entertain fading his assists prop if this Over gets too pricey.
