Rookie VJ Edgecombe has found some momentum of late for the Philadelphia 76ers, scoring 19-plus points in five of his previous six games ahead of Tuesday's tilt with the San Antonio Spurs.

When you are scoring as well as Edgecombe is right now, it can be difficult to pass the rock. Edgecombe's recent passing numbers support that theory, as he's dished three or fewer assists in eight of his previous 10 games. He's averaging 2.4 assists and 3.9 potential dimes over that span.

In addition, the Spurs are a tough defensive team to find much space against on any given night. They rank third in the league in defensive rating and are 12th in assists allowed.

Given this combo, I like fading Edgecombe's assist prop with bet365's +100 price tag for the Under. Most other shops are charging -110 for the same ticket.

Edgecombe's scoring prop is listed at 16.5 on the best sports betting apps, which is up from a total of 14.5 for the past three outings. So, the market has clearly adjusted to his recent usage without Joel Embiid and Paul George.

As a result, I prefer the greater payout in the alternate market to fully buy into Edgecombe's form. Over the last six outings, Edgecombe is averaging 20.5 points, 15.7 field goal attempts, and 35.8 minutes per contest. His usage rating is 21.6% during that stretch.

Basically, all those numbers are up from his season-long metrics and point to him being the No. 2 option for Philadelphia. I like his chances of scoring 20-plus points, especially at +190 on FanDuel, when this line is much shorter everywhere else.

I've allocated 1.5 units to bet on one player in tonight's Spurs vs. 76ers battle. Given Edgecombe's recent form, it makes sense to back his scoring prowess and fade his passing prop. I don't think the market has adjusted enough ahead of tonight's matchup.

When I feel confident in a player, I'm always interested in finding value in the alternate market. In this case, FanDuel's offering was too good to pass up, as it's roughly 30 cents better than most of our best sportsbooks.
