🏆 Today’s best NBA player picks

🎯 Domantas Sabonis ⬇️14.5 points

The Sacramento Kings are on the front end of a home-and-home, with the Boston Celtics today and the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow. The Kings are just 1.5 games above the playoff-tournament cut line, so escaping the series with a win is pivotal. Unfortunately, the Celtics are a brutal matchup for Sabonis.

Over the last 15 games, Boston leads the NBA in points allowed to centers at only 16.5. Further, since the All-Star break, Boston ranks second in points allowed in the paint per contest at 44.8. Sabonis has struggled since the break, failing to clear the 14.5-point threshold in all six of his appearances.

If this game gets out of hand early, expect the Kings to cut their losses to keep Sabonis fresher for tomorrow.

🎯 Franz Wagner ⬇️ 23.5 points

Let’s play a lower for Wagner in the first of the Orlando Magic’s two-game back-to-back set. He’ll host the Los Angeles Lakers tonight before visiting the Charlotte Hornets tomorrow. Tonight’s matchup should be lower-scoring than some expect - the Lakers are 23rd in pace since the All-Star break while the Magic are 25th.

I’m targeting Wagner specifically because he relies on interior scoring. Since the pause, Wagner is averaging only 21.9 points per game, 13.9 of which (63.4%!) came in the paint. Los Angeles is eighth-best by points allowed in the paint since the All-Star break, and when combined with both teams’ slow pace of play, we’ve got a good recipe for a below-average scoring game from Wagner.

🎯 Quentin Grimes ⬇️ 26.5 points

Both sides of Monday’s matchup between the New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers were in action last night. Grimes scored 26 points in a whopping 35 minutes vs. the Atlanta Hawks, and he now has to get ready to play again tonight. Grimes has delivered by putting together massive scoring performances without rest so far, but I don’t think he can keep it up.

New Orleans’ defensive struggles have largely come against wings, specifically small forwards and power forwards, against whom it ranks fourth- and second-worst, respectively, over the last 15. It ranks as an average defense vs. opposing point guards in the scoring department but is dead last in assists. Look for Grimes to pass more than usual while shooting less often.

🎯 Jordan Poole ⬆️ 16.5 points

On a day I think is good to go lower, we’re going higher for this Poole player projection. Poole’s fast-paced Washington Wizards will take on the similarly quick Toronto Raptors this evening. Poole bounces between shooting guard and point guard, and the Raptors have allowed the fourth-most points per game to the former position over the last 15 games.

Poole is a high-variance player, but he has been better than his projection suggests lately. Since the All-Star break, Poole is averaging 17.8 points per contest, going higher in seven of 13 appearances and landing on exactly 16 twice. That sample includes two games vs. Toronto in which he averaged 25 with a low of 16.

🎯 Tyrese Haliburton ⬆️ 27.5 points & assists

Although Tyrese Haliburton hasn’t been as good this year as many expected, he has bounced back since the All-Star break. He is averaging 21.4 points and 11.9 assists per game since then, good for 33.3 - well above today’s player projection at Underdog.

Today’s matchup vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves is a tricky one, but they’re playing at an above-average pace since the All-Star break, and they just coughed up 11 points and 13 assists to Indiana’s T.J. McConnell in a game that Haliburton missed.

❓ How to play Underdog NBA Pick 'Em

Underdog Fantasy’s NBA Pick ‘Em allows players to compete by selecting Higher or Lower for various stat categories, such as points, rebounds, assists, and three-pointers made.

Choose 2-5 player picks and predict whether they’ll finish higher or lower than the projected total. If you hit on all of your picks in "Standard" (or less with "Flex"), you'll win.

🔢 Underdog NBA scoring

🏀 Higher/Lower Picks: Pick whether a player will finish with a total higher or lower than the stat projection set by Underdog.
🏀 Multiplier-based payouts: The more picks you hit, the bigger your payout will be - up to 20x your initial entry fee.
🏀 Insured options: Choose to reduce risk with a "Flex" entry for a lower multiplier while still cashing in on correct picks.

⛹️‍♂️ Underdog NBA lineups

Unlike traditional DFS contests, Underdog NBA Pick ‘Em focuses solely on stat-based predictions and whether the player finishes with a higher or lower total.

No salary cap, no drafting a full lineup - just select your picks for today's games and decide whether to insure your picks for a lower payout or try to maximize your profits.

💰 How Underdog payouts work

Underdog’s Pick ‘Em standard payouts are based on multipliers for the number of picks in the entry:

🏀 2 correct picks = 3x your entry fee
🏀 3 correct picks = 6x your entry fee
🏀 4 correct picks = 10x your entry fee
🏀 5 correct picks = 20x your entry fee

With a "Flex" entry, even if one pick is wrong, you can still win a reduced payout:

🏀 2 correct picks = 1x your entry fee
🏀 3 correct picks = 1.5x your entry fee
🏀 4 correct picks = 2.5x your entry fee
🏀 5 correct picks = 2.6x your entry fee
🏀 6 correct picks = 2.75x your entry fee
🏀 7 correct picks = 3x your entry fee

You can even get some (or all) of your entry fee back with two losing picks on a "Flex" entry with six or more picks:

🏀 4 correct picks = 0.25x your entry fee
🏀 5 correct picks = 0.5x your entry fee
🏀 6 correct picks = 1x your entry fee
