Following back-to-back road wins, the Nets enter tonight’s Eastern Conference battle with a little momentum. Brooklyn (29-17) is coming off a 120-116 win over the Golden State Warriors as a 7.5-point underdog, and this team appears to be counted out by the oddsmakers once again.

The 76ers (30-16) have not lost since Jan. 12 and are riding a five-game win streak into tonight’s affair. Philadelphia has covered the spread in three consecutive contests, which includes Saturday’s 129-127 victory over the Sacramento Kings as a 5.5-point underdog.

The 76ers opened as a 6-point favorite, but the line has dropped to 5 and 5.5 on Wednesday. FanDuel is offering the best line on the underdog, with a -114 juiced offering of the 5.5-point spread. Bettors can choose to lay the 5-point spread at multiple shops at the time of this writing.

As for the total, an opening number 229 has since dropped to a consensus 225.5. You can save a couple cents by shopping around on the Over or Under, but all five of our top-rated sportsbooks are in agreement on the total.

As is often the case with 76ers’ games, the status of big man Joel Embiid is paramount when betting on tonight's matchup. Embiid, who has been sidelined since Jan. 19, is listed as questionable with a foot injury.

My numbers show value on the Nets as an underdog, either way, so I’m happy to take the +5.5 here. There might be an opportunity to bet on Philadelphia live, assuming Embiid ultimately plays, but I’m comfortable with taking the points in this contest. 

The Nets have covered in back-to-back games, thanks to the strong play of Kyrie Irving, who has combined for 86 points over that span. The 76ers will be better defensively, but there are still mismatches that the Nets can exploit along the perimeter.

Brooklyn ranks sixth in points per possession allowed, per Cleaning the Glass. Philadelphia ranks seventh in that metric. In a game where this could be lower-scoring, let’s cash a spread ticket in a 112-109 victory for the home team.
