Where will Jaylen Brown play next season?
The most likely outcome on Kalshi, as of the time of publication, is that Brown will be traded before Oct. 23, with the market implying a 53% probability of a deal, meaning there's also a 47% probability that Brown stays with the Boston Celtics (or retires). If a trade does happen, the field is spread across six teams, led by the Clippers, who carry a 23% chance of landing him.
More than $500,000 in volume has been traded in this market so far, but the order books at advertised prices are a bit thin. For example, if you want to buy "Yes" contracts on Brown staying in Boston at 48 cents, only $15.33 worth of liquidity is available before you're forced to pay 53 cents or more. If you're looking to buy "No" contracts (i.e., that Brown will be traded) at 54 cents, you can instantly get just $1.10 filled before you start buying at 56 cents or higher.

🏀 Who will trade for Jaylen Brown?
Here are Brown's most likely destinations if the Celtics trade him, according to the latest action at prediction markets:
| Team | Chance | Yes price |
|---|---|---|
| Clippers | 23% | 23¢ |
| Hawks | 13% | 13¢ |
| Trail Blazers | 6% | 6¢ |
| Bucks | 5% | 5¢ |
| Spurs | 4% | 5¢ |
| Pelicans | 2% | 2¢ |
Teams not listed are projected to have less than a 1% chance of acquiring Brown.
Clippers (23%)
With the Celtics potentially needing a third team to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks, the Clippers have reportedly offered their services.
The issue with a Brown-for-Antetokounmpo swap is that the Bucks would likely want to get younger and acquire draft capital if they're trading away their two-time NBA MVP - something Brown doesn't immediately help with, but the No. 5 pick does.
Hawks (13%)
On the subject of a three-team Brown-Antetokounmpo deal, other teams have also shown interest in trading for the Celtics' star guard.
Five of the Hawks' six leading scorers last season are under 28 years old, and they won more games against the New York Knicks in the playoffs than any other team, so it would be fair for them to believe that acquiring Brown could take their young squad to the next level.
Trail Blazers (6%)
Another team that Marc Stein reported is interested in Brown is the Portland Trail Blazers. With Damian Lillard expected to return after rehabbing an Achilles injury - and the rise of Deni Avdija - it makes sense that Portland would be going all-in trying to acquire a star in his prime. Besides, it is only paying Avdija $13.1 million this upcoming season (and $11.8 million the next), so it should be looking to capitalize on a two-year window of underpaying an All-Star forward.
🎯 Best prediction for Jaylen Brown's next team
See all of our experts' NBA picks based on the latest NBA odds.
The No. 5 pick the Clippers received from the Indiana Pacers may be the best return that the Bucks can hope to get in an Antetokounmpo trade. Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has reinvigorated Los Angeles' other basketball team, aggressively pursuing star talent and even spending $2 billion to build it a state-of-the-art arena.
The Clippers appear to be the frontrunner in facilitating a trade for Antetokounmpo to the Celtics, and they have an owner that likely isn't content with being No. 2 in town - and landing Brown would help him close that gap.
Prediction: Clippers to trade for Jaylen Brown (23%)
🤔 Why would the Celtics trade Jaylen Brown?
Brown's name has been floating around in trade rumors since the Celtics were upset by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the playoffs.
With the Bucks taking trade calls on Antetokounmpo - and the two players having similar cap hits - the Celtics sending Brown to Milwaukee seems like a reasonable way for Boston to alter a roster that underperformed in the postseason.
Brown added gasoline to the fire when he called this past season his "favorite year," even though the Celtics won the NBA Finals in 2024 - and he was named Finals MVP. Jayson Tatum played just 16 games in the regular season, so some, including Stephen A. Smith, assumed that Brown was taking a shot at his star teammate.
So, not only would Brown be an important piece financially in a move to acquire Antetokounmpo, but if he is, in fact, "frustrated" with the team, the Celtics likely wouldn't want a disgruntled star in the locker room next season.
💰 How to use NBA prediction markets
What does an NBA prediction market measure?
An NBA prediction market measures the likelihood of a specific outcome - such as a player signing with or being traded to a particular team.
How do prices work?
- Prices range from 1 cent to 99 cents
- A 40-cent contract implies a 40% chance based on market consensus
- If the outcome occurs, the contract settles at $1
- If not, it settles at $0
Prices move as traders react to trade rumors, reports, and free-agency developments.
Can positions be exited early?
Yes. Contracts can typically be sold before a signing is decided. That flexibility allows participants to respond to breaking news or shifts in momentum rather than holding a position until the final outcome.
How is Kalshi different from sportsbooks?
Kalshi operates as an exchange, not a house. Participants trade directly with each other, and prices are set by supply and demand instead of fixed odds.
Key distinctions include:
- Probabilities shown in cents rather than traditional odds
- Focus on real-world outcomes, not margins or spreads
- Ability to adjust or close positions before resolution
Is Kalshi regulated?
Yes. Kalshi is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Market rules, settlement criteria, and contract definitions are published in advance.
