The Denver Nuggets earned a shot to put this series away in Game 6, but the Los Angeles Clippers responded, and now Game 7 is upon us. We’ll dive into our Clippers vs. Nuggets prediction as part of our NBA picks, with the latter a slim favorite for this one.

The NBA playoffs have been thrilling so far, especially in the extremely tight Western Conference. The NBA odds listed the Clippers as favorites to win this series before the action started, but they’ll need to win as slight underdogs to complete the job tonight.

🏀 Game 7 prediction & best bet

I’m favoring the Clippers stealing a road Game 7 in this spot, and my reasoning largely stems from shot quality. The Nuggets seemingly received every bounce possible while shooting 55.8% from the floor and 51.5% from beyond the arc in Game 5. The Nuggets shot 50.6% as a team during the regular season and 37.6% from deep.

Game 6 featured some regression for Denver, but not quite as much as I expected. Denver shot 52.4% from the field and 40.7% from long range. That again remained above the team's season averages, and yet the Nuggets suffered a six-point defeat. The Clippers shot 50% from the field and 30.8% from long range, but they won via the differential in free throws and turnovers.

Denver’s above-average and impressive 3-point shooting over the last two games should’ve been enough to close out the series. But it wasn’t, and now the Nuggets will need to stop the red-hot Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. They've seemingly found a time machine and are looking like their old playoff selves at 33 and 35 years old, respectively.

While I'm worried about the Clippers’ disadvantage on the perimeter, their regular-season and postseason 3-point percentage is currently the same (37.3%).

Meanwhile, Denver’s percentage from deep has improved by 1.5%, and the Nuggets have cleared that average in their last two games. I don’t buy their shooting as sustainable, especially not against the fifth-best regular-season team by opponent's 3-point percentage this season (35%).

The Clippers were bid down to favorites to win this series for a reason. Sure, it’ll be tough for them to win in Ball Arena, but much of what we've been seeing from Denver can be attributed to luck.
