Storm vs. Lynx Prediction, WNBA Betting Odds & Expert Picks: Aug. 28

The Minnesota Lynx (30-7) are the favorite in the WNBA championship odds as they take on the Seattle Storm (20-19) tonight (8:00 p.m. ET on WNBA League Pass) from Target Center in Minneapolis, and I’m breaking it down with my Storm vs. Lynx prediction.
The Lynx are the class of the league, holding a six-game advantage for first place in the standings. The Storm, meanwhile, are in a battle to make the postseason for the ninth time in the past 10 seasons. Minnesota is an 8.5-point favorite, as they look to improve to 3-1 against Seattle in 2025.
I expect points to be hard to come by in a matchup between two of the league’s best defensive teams in my WNBA prediction.

📈 Storm vs. Lynx betting odds analysis
Minnesota opened as 8.5-point favorites at the best sports betting sites, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that climbed even higher. The Lynx are a league-best 18-1 at home this season, and they catch a Storm team that’s lost six of its past 10 games.

🔮 Storm vs. Lynx prediction & best bet
⬇️ Under 164 (-110 via Caesars) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This matchup features the first- and fourth-ranked defensive teams by net rating this season. The Lynx have won two of the first three head-to-head meetings between the two clubs in 2025.
Although they’ve gone over this total in two of their previous three encounters this season, the Storm are below average in points per game, three-point percentage, and free throw percentage in 2025. The Storm are finishing a grueling five-game road trip, which means fatigue could come into play. The Lynx have held teams to 42.4% shooting this season and a league-best 76.6 points per game.
I think Minnesota’s length in the frontcourt could present a lot of challenges as Seattle tries to attack the rim and get easy baskets.
A $10 bet nets a $9.09 profit at the current odds.

💰 Best Storm vs. Lynx player prop bet
⬆️ Napheesa Collier Over 32.5 points, rebounds & assists (-105 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Collier is averaging 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and five assists per game in her two appearances against Seattle this season. She shot just 39% from the field and 14% from three-point range, both off her season averages of 54.3% and 37.8%, respectively. A slightly better shooting performance could lead to an explosive offensive night.
Collier has been particularly dominant playing at the friendly confines of Target Center, averaging 23.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game in 16 home contests. I’m more than happy to back one of the WNBA’s best players coming off an impressive return to action at a strong number.
Taking the Over on 32.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists for Collier offers a profit of $9.52 on a $10 bet.

❓ Storm vs. Lynx FAQs
Who is the favorite to win Storm vs. Lynx?
Minnesota is an 8.5-point favorite against Seattle tonight at Target Center.
How do WNBA spread odds work?
When betting on the WNBA, the favorite needs to win by a certain number of points to cover the "point spread" - also known as the betting line. Conversely, the underdog needs to lose by fewer than the points displayed in the spread or win outright to cash. For example, a 3-point favorite would need to win by 4 or more points to reward bettors.
How do WNBA moneyline odds work?
When betting on the WNBA, the underdog will have the "longer" odds and is typically priced at "plus-money" odds that indicate the profit on a $100 bet. For example, a team with +150 odds would turn a $100 bet into a $150 profit - or a $10 bet into a $15 profit - according to our odds converter.
