Despite all the superteam buzz in the offseason, the Connecticut Sun sit atop the WNBA standings with a 3-0 overall record; and their WNBA Championship odds are improving. The Sun have earned back-to-back wins over the Washington Mystics, who are also considered to be a top-four team in the W this year.
The New York Liberty, meanwhile, are one of the two superteams (along with the Las Vegas Aces) considered to be WNBA Championship favorites at our best sports betting apps. The Liberty lost their opener to the Mystics but bounced back with a convincing win over the Indiana Fever.

In fairness, I've had the Sun as my No. 2 power-rated team to start the season and listed them as one of my WNBA Championship picks entering the year. So perhaps this isn't really an overreaction on my part.
Connecticut reached the WNBA Finals last year before losing to the Aces, but was mostly underrated by the betting market. That continues to be the case after Jonquel Jones left to join the Liberty in the offseason.
The Sun are still a team with a talented frontcourt and a strong defense. They currently rank third in the league in defensive rating and are holding opponents to an average of 72 points per game during a 3-0 start.
New York arguably has the most firepower in the league, led by Breanna Stewart, who scored 45 points in three quarters last time out. But the Liberty figure to have growing pains with most of their stars being in a new system, as evidenced by their 80-64 loss to the Mystics in Game 1.
Connecticut won both of its meeting with Washington by a combined 13 points, with the first game being at home and the rematch taking place on the road. I don't necessarily think that is why the Sun will defeat the Liberty on Saturday, but this spread seems too lofty based on what we have seen to this point in the season.
