Vecna and the Mind Flayer are defeated. The town of Hawkins, Ind., has (seemingly) returned to normal. But did Eleven truly vanish with the Abyss, or is she wandering among the waterfalls as Mike Wheeler so desperately wanted the rest of the party to believe?

That latter has fans of the long-running Netflix series from the Duffer brothers believing a new Stranger Things episode will be released this year. We look at the best odds from prediction markets below to see if a new episode, or even season, will be released this year.

The final (announced) episode of "Stranger Things" aired on New Year's Eve. Though for a series that longer-threatened so much evil and despair befalling the beloved cast, the (mostly) happy ending leaves somewhat of a hollow feeling after we looked at who would die in the Stranger Things finale. As does the unknown whereabouts of the show's main protagonist, Eleven.

So, as fans cling to hope of just one more episode (potentially titled "Conformity Gate") of the series we've followed for 9.5 years, Kalshi has released a prediction market for whether we'll get that episode before the end of 2026.

The prediction market seemingly agrees that it's a long shot, giving just a 25% chance of that episode being released. Yes trades at 26 cents, with a No prediction costing traders on the platform 77 cents a share. Those who believe could turn a $100 investment into a $285 profit if the episode is released prior to Jan. 1, 2027.

Kalshi even has a secondary market for whether a new season of "Stranger Things" will be announced. "Yes" trades with just a 7% chance.

📜 Market rules

If a new episode of Stranger Things has been publicly released worldwide through official channels before Jan, 1, 2027, then the market resolves to Yes - via Kalshi.

🔎 Will there be a new Stranger Things episode prediction

"No"

As with all great TV streaming series with millions of devoted fans, people always want one more. "The Sopranos", "Game of Thrones" (how about a remake of that final season), "LOST", etc. "Stranger Things" fans are no different.

Many great series have also left on a cliff-hanger. An open-ending that leaves some hope of the network or streaming service one-day revisiting its own goldmine of production. The fact "Stranger Things" fans have even gone so far as to name the hypothetical (mythical?) episode "Conformity Gate" does little more than take that fandom one step further.

But it's not happening. The Duffer brothers and Netflix took 9.5 years to release the "five" seasons, totalling 42 episodes between July 15, 2016 and Dec. 31, 2025. The interludes were flush with promotional material and media junkets. After such an extended wait for Season 5, Volume 2, and that season being released in three instalments throughout the holiday season, I'll remain skeptical of a surprise release without such fanfare.

❓ How do you trade on prediction markets?

Think of prediction markets like the stock market, but for real-world outcomes. You sign up, add some funds, pick an event (anything from politics to weather to sports to entertainment), and then decide whether you’re riding with “Yes” or fading it with “No.”

Prices bounce around $0.01 and $0.99 based on what everyone else believes, and once the event wraps up, contracts settle at either $1 or $0. You’re not betting against the house - you’re trading against other users and cashing in if your prediction hits.
