With both coming off their first wins of the CFL season, the Toronto Argonauts host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET (TSN/RDS, CFL+) from BMO Field in Toronto. With neither of these teams looking like real threats to climb the Grey Cup odds due to poor defense, our Tiger-Cats vs. Argonauts prediction is eyeing the Over in the QEW Bowl.

Though neither of these teams has looked especially impressive, and both won their only games thanks to their opponents starting backup QBs, Hamilton has the clear advantage. Not only is CFL Most Outstanding Player odds contender Chad Kelly still out for Toronto, but the Argonauts are down running backs Miyan Williams and Deonta McMahon, pass rusher Derek Parish, and star linebacker Wynton McManis. Meanwhile, Hamilton can lean on Bo Levi Mitchell and a strong wide receiver corps to pull off a high-scoring win. I have Hamilton taking it 34-27.

Another CFL season and another year of Mitchell looking ageless whilst having to make up for a struggling defense in the Hammer. With last week's win over the Montreal Alouettes in which Hamilton hung 35 points on one of the league's best defenses, Mitchell became the fastest CFL QB to 100 wins. And he could make it 101 tonight if he keeps this offense humming.

The Tiger-Cats are putting up 28 points per game and sit first in the CFL in passing yards per game (291.3) thanks to Mitchell, who is one of just two QBs with four-plus touchdown passes and fewer than two interceptions this season. The Argos aren't equipped to stop the aerial attack deployed by Scott Milanovich, with Toronto allowing the second-most points per game (28) in the league.

However, Hamilton's defense continues to be a problem too. It's giving up 27.7 points per game and 360.3 yards per game. So while Nick Arbuckle has been turnover prone, he should be able to stress this defense, especially with the way his wide receiver corps has played, specifically Damonte Coxie.

With the frequency at which Hamilton throws the ball, Tim White should have every opportunity to finish with at least five receptions. The three-time CFL All-Star is seventh in the league in receptions this season (18) and has gone Over 4.5 receptions in two of three games, including catching nine of his 10 targets last week against the Als.
