Without Alexander, it could be tough sledding for Montreal against a Saskatchewan squad that holds a CFL-best 6-1 record - the Riders also have the best ATS record in the league (5-2). McLeod Bethel-Thompson is one of the best backup QBs in the CFL; however, the 37-year-old hasn't been able to lift the Als with Alexander out. He's averaging a paltry 6.7 yards per attempt and has just one more touchdown (4) than interception (3) through three starts. To make matters worse, star receivers Tyson Philpot and Austin Mack are both out for this matchup.
Saskatchewan's defense is poised to take advantage, with the Roughriders allowing the third-fewest points per game in the league (24) and having the CFL's best run defense (66.9 rushing yards allowed per game). But Montreal's defense should help it stay in this game, especially with the Riders being down Samuel Emilus.
The Alouettes' defense is the best in the East, allowing the fewest yards per game in the league (322.4) and the second-fewest points per game (22.6). With Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund leading the way, Montreal should avoid getting blown out at home and keep this a relatively low-scoring game as long as its run defense shows up.

Does A.J. Ouellette still rank top three in the CFL in rushing yards (490)? Yes, but he hasn't been nearly as impactful lately. The former Ohio star has gone Over 69.5 rushing yards just once in his last three games while averaging 47.6 rushing yards per game during that stretch.
Now he's taking on one of the best run defenses in the league. The Als allow the second-fewest rushing yards per game in the CFL (75.6) and held the CFL's leading rusher, James Butler (620), to just 41 yards on 12 carries a few weeks ago.
